I know it’s going to vary a lot based on age, fitness level, how hard you pushed yourself etc, but I would like to get a feel for the range of time it took people to feel normal again!
I arrived at SdC on Saturday, having walked from SJPdP in 38 days, minus a little bus ride because of knee...
I was already going to recommend this albergue heartily - the food is superb (home-made breadsticks and hummus to accompany the pumpkinsoup, followed by smoked trout from their own pond and fresh vegetables from their garden), lovely clean roomy bathroom and only €1 to use the washing machine...
I leave tomorrow, walking from SJPdP
Plan A was that I was taking two pairs of walking trousers, one of which were double zip-offs allowing conversion into either shorts or capris, and a fairly long rain jacket which comes to mid- thigh, so I wasn’t going to bother with overtrousers.

The flight arrives in Santiago at 0915 on a...

Maybe I’m worrying about nothing..... but I think of all the loops and strappy bits on the outside of my backpack, and envisage them getting caught in the baggage handling machinery.
Is this a problem, and if so, what is the solution?
I’m going in March, so have no option but to take the Valcarlos route. Are there yellow arrows on this route? The write up in John Brierley’s book implies you have to be very careful not to go astray, so I’m guessing not....
