On the excellent list and in Brierley's guide there is supposed to be an albergue in Asseiceira. On googlemaps I can't find it. Has anyone slept there? Number of beds? Cost? I'm walking with my mother and we are trying to do shorter days where possible.
You are right, suddenly remember how uncomfortable crotchless stockings can be. Seems like too high risk of chafing. I think I abandon the leg warmer idea. Back to packing!
Exactly my concerns. Being quite large I can definitely see the possibility of them rolling down. I guess I should have tried long ago. Leaving for st Jean on Monday (yay!)
Hello!
Saw a new thing today while browsing the merino contents of a nearby sports store. Merino leg warmers! At 95grams a pair they certainly looked like a good trade off weight vs warmth. Has anyone tried? Are they ok for walking or will they stayed rolled around my knees?
Hello!
I will start my first Camino on September 4th. Will start in St Jean with a friend who will drop off in Pamplona. Solo Camino from Pamplona to Santiago where husband will meet me and we hope to walk together to Finisterre.
I really need the Camino right now. I’m trying to find a new way...
I did it! As usual did not take a before picture, but started with generic cocoon style sleeping bag.
Used my trusted serger and serged off hood and bottom. The bag is still long enough to tuck under feet in case of cold night and I think I will keep it like that.
The possibility of turning it...
I guess I will have to explore the world of the backpacking quilts... I can totally see how getting rid of some of the underside of the bag will reduce both weight and bulk, but how does it work to sleep in a backpacking quilt? Is it just like a very narrow quilt? My original plan was to create...
I got the idea from a Facebook forum to modify my sleeping bag. I am 165cm tall (or short, depending on whom you ask) and my sleeping bag measures a whopping 235cm(!)
My idea is to cut off the superfluous part in the bottom of the sac and to add a drawstring making it possible to use both as a...
Might take another look at the crocs section. Or maybe the faux-crocs section. My Tevas have a lot of webbing which can be a little prone to stinking after being soaked for some time.
I see that a lot of peregrines recommend crocs for post walk relaxing and even for short time hiking in case of blisters. I’m confused. Do you mean this monstrosity? Or is there neater options also called crocs?
Got myself some icebreaker merino on sale today. Will try both merino and bamboo at home, but after reading the replies in this post I now am heavily biased towards merino ☺️
