    Family Camino in 40 days?

I started in St Jean. I will be in Santiago in a few days. I will have walked 40 days. I will have averaged 12.5 miles per day, which was my goal. I booked ahead 2-5 days. Buen Camino.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2019

Not many hills in my immediate neighborhood so I’ve been walking up and down six flights of stairs 12 times, a few times a week. It’s hot and boring in the stairwell but I pass the time pretending I’m on the Napoleon Route. On April 26th I will be. 🤗

What was the biggest surprise of your Camino?

I am still amazed the ear plugs I took actually worked and I slept quite well in a dorm with snorers.

New Travel Fiction about the Camino

I downloaded and read most of the book on my plane ride to Madrid. I was so excited when walking one day and I found the windowsill where one of the clues was hidden.

    Organised tour or do-it-yourself?

It walked the Frances this past Oct. I’m old so I had most of my gear forwarded each day. I planned ahead a day or two, reserving a bed in an albergue, usually private ones. I knew pretty much how far I would be comfortable walking. I used the Village to Village guide to research trail...

    Shower shoes?

I took a pair of the plastic Birkenstocks. They worked great in the shower and for after walking foot wear. Can be worn with or without socks. Very light weight. https://www.birkenstock.com/us/arizona-eva/arizona-eva-eva-0-eva-u.html?dwvar_arizona-eva-eva-0-eva-u_color=3716

    Sarong or quick dry towel?

I took a very small PackTowel and a sarong. The combo worked well. Many uses for the sarong. It even kept my neck warm on cold mornings.
