We walked that stage in one day in April last year and in hindsight I really wish we had stopped in El Real de la Jara. I found it a really long day and I was exhausted by the time we reached Monesterio. As you say it was only day 4 and it was really hot.
The albergue in As Eiras also has a table outside the albergue offering cool drinks and snacks. We called earlier in the day and were met on arrival by a member of the group.
The next day we walked to Albergueria and stayed in the unique Albergue El Rincon del Peregrino, and then walked to...
We walked the VLDP/Sanabres in April last year and broke up the stages by staying one night in As Eiras in the small donativo albergue in the village. It is in an old house right on the Camino and has 4 beds in 2 rooms. There is a kitchen and lots of food provided so you can cook a meal. It is...
Hi,we were there last year at about the same time as you - Saturday night the week before Semana Santa. We stayed in the Hotel Rural La Fabrica which is in a beautifully restored old factory. You can book via their website or contact them directly for a pilgrim discount. We had originally...
Thanks Rick, you gave me some ideas a few weeks ago. We are still in the planning phase so looking for ideas. We normally arrive in Madrid and have a great place there that stores luggage for free.
We are planning to walk on the Cami Catalan from Barcelona in April 2024. Can anyone recommend or suggest pilgrim friendly accommodation in Barcelona? We will need to leave a small bag there while we are walking. We are not going to SDC this time so can’t avail ourselves of Ivar’s luggage...
We stay at the Hostal Persal in Plaza del Angel. They will store luggage for free - this year it was for almost 2 months as we walked the VDLP. Very friendly, 24 hr reception and a great breakfast.
Thanks so much for your input Rick. I agree about there not being much information on Gronze for this route. We haven’t used Wikiloc before but will now. We might look at walking the route to Huesca instead as there appears to be quite limited accommodation on some of the stages.
Are you aware...
Hi Tim, we always use Gronze on our caminos but there is very limited info on albergues etc on the stages from Barcelona to Montserrat. From Barcelona on the Catalan there is more. It is only 3 days from Barcelona to Montserrat so we should find somewhere to stay.
Thanks, Linda
We are thinking of walking from Barcelona to Zaragoza in April 2024. Can anyone recommend a guidebook in English for this route. Also any information and advice will be greatly appreciated.
Hi Adelina, I served as a hospitalera in Grado for the first half of October in 2019. A wonderful experience. Sunrise wasn’t until about 8 am so we waved pilgrims off in the dark each morning.
I am currently researching walking from Barcelona to Zaragoza next March/April on the Camino de Barcelona to Montserrat and the the Camino Catalan to Zaragoza. Not sure about the hills for Pat though! Can anyone who has walked these routes recommend it?
It was closed earlier this year. We stayed at the private Albergue Luz del Camino. Very friendly people and reasonable facilities. 14 euros per person. I booked via email about 2 weeks before.
If you have time and feel like starting with 2 easy days I would suggest breaking that first stage and...
