I walked the Primitivo on my own last year in August and did not feel unsafe for one moment. There were a few younger females who also walked solo. Next year I am planning to walk the Invierno on my own - I cannot wait!
I guess I was lucky that the road was quiet, come to think of it, it was on Saturday. On the other hand, give me an uphill rather than a downhill any time!
The shortcut, following the road, is very short - less than two kilometers. Fortunately the road was quiet when I continued with it. It is the same road which takes you up from the dam to the town.
