Hello.
I’m not familiar with the Madrid route so can’t comment on it. Longoño, Burgos and León on Camino Frances are 3-4hrs from Madrid on bus or train. According to www.gronze.com you could walk Logroño to Burgos in one week, or walk Burgos to Mansilla and then bus to León to get train/bus...
My picture is Holly, my loyal walking companion, in the Mournes. And Tollymore is a forest park where we did a lot of my training walks.
Am loving this thread, thanks!
I stayed here in mid July.

Clean, secure and friendly however it was fiesta season and there was a non stop heavy metal concert 10pm-5am in the adjacent square that night so not much sleep!
Hi Lucy.
I’m in NI and I walked SJPP to SdC in Asics trail runners for overpronation (c. £50) and wore these with basic Decathlon ankle socks and wasn’t bother by blisters at all. The trainers had good grip and support and roomy toe box. I wanted something that would dry easily if they got...
I think it’s probably a good idea to taper for a couple of weeks before your Camino, Kathy. Common practice for any marathon preparation. It sounds like you’ve put in the training hours well in advance so you’ve got your stamina built up. Just pace yourself once you get started and enjoy your...
I walked the causeway coastal path from Carrick-a-rede rope bridge to the Giant’s Causeway last weekend. About 18km.. Breathtaking views, cliffs, blue skies, blue sea...
I agree, @Albertagirl.
I’ve sometimes wondered if there was any way to make a network of Camino pilgrims from Ireland/NI who might be interested in offering affordable, albergue type accommodation at their homes to fellow pilgrims who want to walk here.
@AcrossTheWater3008 www.walkni.com have details of lots of excellent walks in Northern Ireland, many of which have written guides, maps and waymarks.

Meeting my sister along the way was very emotional. I’d started alone in SJPP and she starred in Sarria with her family 3 weeks later. Although I’d met some wonderful people I was just totally overcome seeing her along the road to Ribadiso.
Hi JamesVT.
I stayed at Orisson last year. The walk up to it is very steep but short, about 8km I think. It’s a quiet road so you can stop safely along the way. I think there are a few benches along the way too. From Orrison to peak is a much gentler uphill incline, steeper downhill in places...
I echo a lot of what others have said. Your body is in charge on the Camino, not your mind, let it decide how far you go each day. Booking SJPP, Orisson and Roncesvalles is a good idea to break yourself in a little easier as there are no options in between.
I’m in my second week of my first...
Thanks, Konnie. I’ve a reservation for Orrison which gives me some peace of mind and I intend to buy poles too.
Thanks, Glamgrrl, for the trail conditions update.
Hi Yanlingly and TennKeith, hope our paths cross at some point.
I’m having serious jitters about going. My original excitement...
