    Intermittent fasting on the Camino

I found it was fine - no breakfast…. Just herbal teas /water till around 11ish maybe 12 then food as wanted and dinner by 7 when possible.. if a bit later just later starting to eat the next day. Thought it might impact on walking energy but didn’t - and didn’t bother me sitting with others...

    Live… average daily cost

Couldn’t agree more- always spend more on donativo days to show gratitude for generosity and hopefully to make up a bit for those who cannot afford or chose not to be generous back…

    Live… average daily cost

I guess we are quite frugal - on my own I did €15 in 2019… mostly self catering. As someone said above menu and bed somewhere around €21-23 but obviously if you cook up some pasta and veggies much less.

Using dorm beds and a mix of Peregrinos Menu / self catering, stopping for coffee a couple of times a day and generally but not always taking our own breakfast/lunch .. we have averaged out at...

    Most Affordable Camino??

I have just completed the Frances and kept note of all spending. I averaged 17 euros a day - that included always giving at least 5e for donativo bed and 8e/10e for donativo meal, mostly but not always staying in cheapest option and almost always cooking for myself for all meals. I generally...

Anyone know if there is a bus between Muxia and Finisterre??

Thanks. I have discovered it is just Mon-Fri which would explain why I couldn’t find it for this weekend. There is however a bus from Santiago to Muxia so maybe I will just do that and not Finisterre- decisions!!

What a fabulous route! Highly recommend

Hope you enjoy as much as we did! We took 6 days - an easy first day to Ustaritz (as Albergue in Espellete was closed. Stayed with the lovely Natalia - bookable - on Airbnb and I think Gronze. Then to Urdax- stayed at Albergue (monestary) then to Elizondo - opted to go to Lekoretz to stay in...

It also avoids a tough first day and eases your joints and muscles into walking!

What a fabulous route! Highly recommend

My husband and I walked this route in March aided by threads on this forum and Gerald Kelly’s guide. Very beautiful and I would say a great option to St Jean and a first day climb as it starts with a lovely walk along the river to lubricate the joints! It was very quiet and we did need to...
