    First Bar Syndrome

I can't remember the town but I stopped in a town early on with three bars. I stopped in the second, as did the first pilgrim I met on the road who I spoke to in Hutto day 1 and another pilgrim I saw whom I thought was struggling but just wanted to get off the road to adjust his shoe. We all...

SJPdP to SdC 2019. This year to Fisterra too!

Yeah, can do. I hadn't forgotten.

    Holy Year: 2021

I still have a year and a half before I even start planning. So far I'm thinking it's best to avoid the Frances. It's already busy July, it's going to be impossible to reliably get somewhere each night. My current plan is to walk the Northern Way, I live close to a ferry service to northern...

SJPdP to SdC 2019. This year to Fisterra too!

That'll be cool. I should be arriving at 6:15PM. We could meet at 7PM outside the Pilgrims Office? I'm Chris.

Planning my first Camino adventure - November?

I started mid/late October. Reached Foncebadón on Hallowe'en. Snow covered and looked amazing. Many close by this time of year but plenty enough were still open. The municipals are always open. I found I wasn't really carrying much extra weight because I was wearing most of it always. Still...

    Multiple Caminos...

I will be walking the Frances a second time this year. I really looked into doing the Portugues but in truth I had unfinished business on the CF and had to do it once more before any other.

Two nations divided by a common language?

No, half seven means half past seven, not half past six. That was by and large the barrier difference. Sure, used different words but never was there confusion except for the time and they confirmed if I forgot to include a past.

Rely on the waymarking, ignore your apps!

I think you pick up a knack for knowing when you should come across an arrow. I was only offtrack in any significant way three times. One by mistake but it was still heading to the same town however was on it for at least 90 mins and meant I missed the entrance to town and would not know which...

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

    The Slovak one is pretty.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

I met some Irish pilgrims last year and they didn't like the fact it was a book. I didn't think it was anything outstanding just okay but if it's the same design in a layout form then I will say it's an improvement.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

You can just get the credencial for £5 as a non-member. I just wanted to be prepared which is why I got mine in advance. Unless I was starting somewhere weird and not SJPDP I might have picked one up this time.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

I had the one from CSJ in the UK last year. I think they've updated it and now looks much nicer. Mine was fine for functionality. Clear maps and lots of space. I liked the SJPDP ones better. I think I'm going to be getting mine straight from that Pilgrim's Office in September this year.

5 things most pilgrims don't do on the Camino (but should)

So you're saying you need it. Then nobody will have a problem, I had in mind people 10-15 years younger. This German guy was possibly 70, he didn't speak English and I didn't speak German and I couldn't understand his French. In Castrojeriz you pick your own bed. He got there late so got last...

5 things most pilgrims don't do on the Camino (but should)

The bottom bunk is a contentious issue. Don't demand and assume you have to take bottom because of your age if you're capable of using the top. If you're young but need to take a bottothrough injury then speak up. I must have slept wrong one night and injured my shoulder and couldn't support my...

Great video log of Camino Frances

He's done the Portuguese Way in March or April. I asked if he's editing it the long style ones like he did originally and said he is so that's good.

Mini-bus transport Biarritz Airport to SJPdP 12 Aug19 - Seats Available.

I think it's safe to assume there won't be free seats. Or at least not enough that you will pay more than the lowest price. Where are you flying from?

SJPdP to SdC 2019. This year to Fisterra too!

I can't remember where I'm staying but it's not Beilari. I will only have just enough time to go to the Pilgrim's Office and wash myself before their meal. I want time to collect myself. If I don't meet anyone I will just eat alone. I don't want to rush then be overwhelmed by a group meal so...

SJPdP to SdC 2019. This year to Fisterra too!

I will be arriving in Saint-Jean at the early evening on 17th September. Just enough time to wash off the travel of a car to a ferry to a coach to another coach then a plane then a minibus. I hope I will get to meet someone enough to at least grab a bite with them for at least that first night...

Some things a little over the top.

There was a guy from Japan that I bumped into a lot in the first few weeks with what seemed like a ukulele (a small guitar that sounded like one, unless there's a Japanese. I liked his music but he did mix it up a bit and did ask others around. I doubt he would have dared to play it inside...

Food Poisoning in Carrion de los Condes.

Yes. Definitely a great tip. Many people where sick after what turned out to be the same water pump. I had also drank a little from it but only a few mouthfuls. I was not too good but we'll enough to not stop me. I always carried an unopened bottle of water with me after then so I could always...
