I'm in the US and flying into Pisa and from there taking the train to Lucca. I know that the tourist office or churches will be selling the credentials but I didn't know if they were also selling the patches/brooches, etc...

    Via Francigena Pilgrim Identifier

Hi Guys! Where can you buy crossed keys/pilgrim patch or brooch? I would love to have it from the beginning of my walk and was wondering if any cathedrals or tourist offices sell them. I'm visiting Lucca but I'm starting my walk from Altopascio and ending in Monteriggioni. Thanks! P.S...

    I'm booked :)

I'll be starting from Lucca. My flight lands in Pisa at 9pm so I'm staying overnight there and heading out to Lucca , probably late morning via train and from there I walk. I told my friend from work that he has to start teaching me italian lol. He knows 5 languages and has been to Italy over...

    I'm booked :)

Yes - I think that gave me more motivation than anything else. WOW - that's great. From what I read here it seems like France is a bit challenging because of the trails are not well marked but I bet it is beautiful. I wish I would have had the time to go from Lucca to Sienna but with the...

    Tuscan Region Safety

Thank you for your encouraging words. I'm crying as I write this. I just had an argument with my brother and he was like "why would you want to travel by yourself to another country? What if something happens. I'm a man and I wouldn't do this." Now mind you, he's screaming at me when he was...

    Tuscan Region Safety

Thank you for letting me know. I don't mind doing it by myself but everyone keeps telling me that I shouldn't do it by myself at all. I know the trails are well-marked for the route them I'm talking - Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa. I have also read about the GPS app that you can get just to make...

    Tuscan Region Safety

Hi Guys! I posted a question the other day and received wonderful answers so I am hoping I can get the same here with this thread. Since I will be doing this alone what are the safety precautions I should be taking? Is it dangerous to go by yourself? Are you supposed to bring mase with you...

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

Thanks for letting me know - I would not have known about putting lotion on my feet as part of the prep!

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

So then it's feasible that I can stay overnight in Colle Val d'Elsa and walk to Monteriggione and then take the taxi/bus/train to Florence? I was thinking of heading back from there because it seems closer than going back to Pisa.

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

Thanks for all that information!!! I wish I had my tickets booked already but I want to do as much research as possible before booking them. The pictures look great!!!! I was thinking about safety a bit of it because I'll be doing this alone. I asked my sister if she wanted to come but she...

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

I was planning on staying in Lucca for one night, but if you think the time that I have is feasible, I have no problem staying there for two days. One question though, if there is accommodation in every town, why would I need a sleeping bag? Is it more like "bring your blanket" kind of thing?

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

From the pictures that I have seen online, the towns all look beautiful, that's how I picked Colle Val d'Elsa over Monteriggione as it just looked more beautiful. Thanks for letting me know about the link. I'm going to check it out now.

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

Thanks for letting me know all this information. I've never been a big hiker (always scared of bears lol) but I'm starting to now. That's great that I can stop at all the towns without rushing too much. What are your "needs" for a walk like this? I'm more of a need's person already and I am a...

Lucca to Colle Val d'Elsa - First Walk Ever

Hello Everyone! I have never done a walk before. For my first walk, I want to do the Tuscan Region. I will probably only be able to have 10 days (I'm in the US). I did some research and it seems like the best time of the year is around September as the temperatures should be mild. I don't...

    Tuscany

Hello Everyone! I just found out about Via Francigena. It seems very interesting and peaceful. I would only have about a week and half off from work. I don't know how feasible it would be. I would like to end up in Tuscany and fly home from there. Where do I start from? What can I...
