    @Purky I think we're violently agreeing with each other mate! Part of a pilgrimage was a certain amount of hardship to "purify the soul" (I'm sure better phrases are available). I think what you show is that there is much more to it than "just" that!

    Pah! I have never "hiked" anything in the UK, nor have I heard anyone else saying that The true Brit "goes on a hike" (My biggest bugbear with it is when biking, people get off and walk 10 steps over a tricky but and then say they "hiked" it. No you did not! You walked. You did not "hike"...
