Starting the walk in the afternoon

On the clothing drying issue. A good reason to take 2 spare walking outfits, not just one. So you can catch up on washing when you have more time. I included a few days with afternoon walking, similar time last year, arriving about 6-7pm.. It's quite relaxing, with less pilgrims on the path.

Are you planning your (next) camino? Well, I am

I'll be walking the mozarabic from.Granada to Cordoba with my parents next August. From the YouTube research we've done, it should be good. Cant wait to see the palace in Grandada, and my parents have been to Cordoba and really liked the city. My previous caminos were the coastal from.Porto...

    Day dreaming...

I'm daydreaming of all the caminos I could do. And how cool it would be to walk from Madrid, and not have to worry about public transport. It won't be for a few years though... Has anyone walked from Madrid to Leon to Oviedo to Santiago? I'm guessing it would take about 5 weeks? Buen Camino

How many days from Lisbon to Santiago?

And if you do run short of time, for extreme weather, injury etc, there's no shame in using public transport to catch up - advice from pilgrims close to me. I was as lucky I managed okay time wise, but it's good to know that was an option. When you have to an annual leave and air fares booked...

How many days from Lisbon to Santiago?

Yeah, I meant the distance certificate distance, minus 30ish km for the section I took the boat for, equals about 460Km , seems about right.

How many days from Lisbon to Santiago?

Like your thinking...makes sense. Anyways, back to the subject, I'd give it a month of walking days, to complete the full distance. Some would do it in less. I wouldn't want to walk 30 plus days most days, since I like to take my time and take photos along the way. Enjoy your walk. It's not a...

How many days from Lisbon to Santiago?

As far as i know, they are using the main central path, not the variations. How does each publication/app calculate what the main central route is?? Is the pilgrim office data the official distance? I personally am averaging it at 460Km, plus extra Km from any variations. Just out of...

How many days from Lisbon to Santiago?

Walked from Tomar to Santiago in 21 walking days, and one day off. Then walked from Santiago to Muxia in 4 days. Rough maths, could have walked the full Lisbon to Santiago, in 28 days of walking. Keeping it simple and not including the espiritual route which I took.. A random question, what...

Is the Coastal Camino Route Safer from Aggressive Dogs?

Walked from tomar to Santiago on central/espiritual and then onto Mucia. The only time i nearly got bitten, was from a cute little fluffy dog sitting near a restaurant door, between Barcelos and casa fernadas. The usually bigger, guard dogs, tend to behind fences, so less of a threat.. It's...

    Tampons

Change on the trail, at your accommodations or cafe. Chance of leaking, using a pad or period underwear. Cleaning, by giving it a wipe with toilet paper and rinsing it later on at accommodations, and when showering. I purposely trialed out the cup a few months before my first Camino. A...

    First Day Leaving Porto Options

Another option is (walking or metro) to Rubras/Vilar do Pinheiro metro to Rates to Barcelos. The central camino from Porto is a bit industriall/urban, but not dangerous. Plus you'll get the satisfaction with the achievement of walking all the way from Porto cathedral. Also, a camino is not just...

What part of the Camino from Lisbon to Porto is worth seeing?

Started from Tomar. Have very similar feelings. Walked in April/May. Lost my camino family by Barcelos and am very grateful that I had the time to start where I did.

    Equipment question!

Everybody's body is different, You dont know how your body is going to react to long walks until you actually do it. Lugging around just-in-cass stuff, is generally seen as a bad thing in packing discussions. Forgot to add, to my previous message. If you do try a forrest stick out and...

    Equipment question!

If in doubt, don't bring them..you can always change your mind along the way. The forrest will provide if needed, a solid branch of eucalyptus will do the job.

    Spain V Portugal Caminos

What's your focus. I like Portugal for its architecture, food and people. The buildings are more colorful with the bright painting and tiles. Even the churches are more colorful imside, because of the tiles and decoration. The cobblestones give an unique look, although can be hard on the...

Portuguese Way from Tui via the Spiritual Variant - advice please!

Just for fun let's compare walking stages. Keep in mind that I was fortunate to have more time than you, so had started in Tomar so I was quite fit and strong when I reached Tui. * Tui, Albergue Convento del camino * Redondola, A conserveria. (A quiet hostel) * Combarro, Hogar del Puerto (I...
