Hi there,
In case anyone is interested: I've just recreated the Camino Frances on Google Maps and illustrated it with some of my pictures from May/June 2007.
And yes, I still miss the Camino! :)
Have a great day,
Jerome
I don't want to sound like whining, but how did you cope with your Post Camino Blues?
I miss the Camino, the walking, the friendliness, the community, the people, ...
But I guess we'll just adapt again. And thanks to the internet you can at least somewhat keep in touch with the wonderful...
Hello there! Maybe some do remember me ...
I've arrived in Santiago on Tuesday and my plane is leaving tomorrow.
And right now I'm both happy and sad. Happy because I see my family and friends again and sad because I already miss some of the wonderful people I met on the Camino and I also...
I'm still evaluating whether or not to cross the Pyrenees on the first day (because of my recent foot problem) ... I don't want to risk ruining my whole Camino experience on the first day.
But since I'll be staying in SJ anyway, what ways are there to get from SJ to Roncesvalles? Is there a...
I tried to look this up but didn't find anything ... ?
So, any tips as to how to best secure the backpack for the plane? They don't always handle luggage carefully ... And I'd hate to see something brake off afterwards, especially the 'buckle'!
Thanks.
I'm just wondering: Is it possible to fill up your water during the crossing of the Pyrenees or do you have to take as much water as you probably will need (and can carry!) from the start?
Thanks everyone and sorry for the maybe silly questions ;)
Jerome
I've just read the post (on a German forum) from someone who's walking the Camino Francès right now and who's saying that there are a LOT of people on it (lots of Germans and people from the Netherlands) and it's 'all about' a fight for a bed in the hostels. And there are always people who have...
Maybe I've mentioned this before but there's a really nice, and free, podcast for people who want to start Spanish out there: Coffeebreak Spanish.
I'm listening to it since the beginning. It's really nice. I've also listened to a different language CD that I had bought years ago to complement...
A question to those who have already done such a pilgrimage:
What do you handle the food thing? Is it like buying the stuff you want to eat for breakfast and during the next day on the eve? Or are there often shops along the way where you can spontaneously buy things to eat? I imagine that...
Hola,
I've had a sort of tendinitis about a month ago. My left foot/leg was quite swollen around the shinbone. I went to a doc, he even send me to the X-Rays but they didn't see anything. I got Voltaren, didn't train anymore and after some days the swelling was away and I could walk again...
When arriving at your destination of the day will you just go to the first refuge, ask if they've still got a free bed and then either stay or, if already full, go to the next one? Until you find a place to sleep?
Or how do you imagine this 'process'?
Thanks.
Hello,
I'm gonna start my camino on May 17th, so I'm already getting excited and a little bit nervous. Especially as to whether the camino will be full of people or whether there still are places, or moments, where you can walk (more or less) alone? Don't get me wrong, I like to meet new...
Hola,
Is there a site out there that summarizes all the preparation that's needed before you start a camino (I'll be starting on May 20th probably)? That way I don't have to bore you with my questions ;)
I'd like to know things what really is needed in the backpack, what's the best way to...
As I've said before I'm planning to walk the Camino at the end of May 2007.
But after having read several postings (also on other boards) it sounds like the Camino is suffering under its own success? Too many people, the 'fights' over the beds, having to start your day very early so you're at...
Are the albuergues really as bad as a lot of people/books claim them to be? Meaning lots of people in very little space, one toilet for 30 people, not too much hygiene, etc .. ? And since the number of pilgrims seem to grow every year, this probably won't get better ... ?
What about...
Hi,
I'm looking forward to walk the Camino in June and July 2007 and I was now wondering how much time I would probably need.
I'll be 32 then and I'm rather athletic. I've also done 1 or 2 week trekkings before but I don't remember the actual distance we've done per day on average. Since I...
