Wow! I am so grateful for all of your insights and help. I have limited Spanish, but since I’m not volunteering until the end of October, I’ve plenty of time to become more proficient if it’s possible at my age! I’m not fussy at all about food, but I do enjoy a good cup of coffee and when I’m...
Thank you so much. I appreciate you giving more insight about the schedule. Was there anything particular you found challenging? Also, I ended up reserving a room at San Martin Pinario at a very reasonable price, including breakfast! I learned that San Lazaro Albergue is pretty far away from the...
Thank you. I did see on the map that the San Lazaro Albergue is pretty far away from the cathedral. I think I will take you up on your recommendation. How long ago were you a volunteer?
Thank you so much for your reply. I just looked at Gronze which I was unfamiliar with. Do you mean that you searched the stages on Gronze to choose accommodations? I don’t see where accommodations are listed on that site. Also, I’m wondering how much you paid for your flight and where did you...

#1 just north of Porto to Santiago on the Portuguese in 2019 with a group of family members. We we did use a luggage service and stayed in Airbnb’s and hotels, but split up the tasks of acquiring those on...
I am thinking of doing the Camino Ingles sometime in April or early May from Ferrol to Santiago. Since I am in my late seventies,I will be using a company to arrange my walk and staying in small hotels or Airbnbs. Is anyone planning to do a similar Camino during that time of the year? Has...
Yes it is! I did that same route last September, and it was very easy to follow the yellow arrows. even though I had two companions, I walked much of it alone as they chose to take taxis for various reasons. You’ll be fine!
We went with a tour company and they transferred our luggage for us. You should be able to find an independent luggage transfer company, though. Good luck!
I now have three Compostelas and two other certificates of completion from my caminos. I’m wondering if there are any creative ways to display them and also to display my passports. Just framing them and putting them up on my den wall is an option but I’m looking for other ways as well. Any...
Just finished part of the Via de la Plata and ALWAYS knew where my air tagged luggage which was being transported was. I immediately got a notice when and where it was “left behind”. Very comforting!
I’m not entirely sure but certainly more than 2. It seemed perhaps like 8. Be sure that person does not have balance issues as well. She or he will be going up slanted steps while on the roof.
