I stayed a night and Day in Finisterra and enjoyed every minute. The people are warm and friendly and the village beautiful. Don’t sell it short too quickly.
I completed my Camino June 30th and found that as far as “Camino Family” is concerned, you meet lots of interesting, people along the way. I chose to walk with people some days and alone other days. There is always someone to walk with if that is what you want.
I started out on the Norte and it IS brutal. I took a bus from Castro Urdiales to Gurizo (not spelled correctly) spent the night there and hiked from there to Laredo. Not much pavement but lots of uphill, rocky trail, views are beautiful. I finally left the Norte and dropped down to the...

Some experiences are worth the cost! Buen Camino Fellow Pilgrims.
I’ll be on the Norte next week🎉💥🎉
Is that an alternate route over the Jazkibel Mtn? I’m going to try to avoid as much pavement as I can. I’ve been training with a full pack, 2 miles up a mountain and 2 miles back every day and btw I’m 70. I do want to try to save my knees and feet as much as I can.
Knowing you are the same age as me is encouraging. I keep telling myself that I have nothing to prove. This journey is about facing my fears so just leaving home and trekking in a foreign country is a win for me. Having said that I am looking forward to the challenge and meeting exceptional...
I am starting in San Sebastian and planning to walk to Bilbao and then take a bus or train to Burgos. I am certainly not opposed to taking a bus or whatever to detour "brutal" areas. I'm not out to injure myself. I have been training on a "small" mountain, four miles a day with a loaded...
