Thank you everyone! A few hours before departure and I am still deciding. Maybe less worry to leave mine here and pick one up there but I do like the one I have. Will probably be a last minute decision like several other things in my pack...
Has anyone had an issue in taking a non-collapsible umbrella in carry on? TSA says umbrellas are not an issue and to check with the airline. Airlines say umbrellas are fine if they fit under your seat (or I am assuming in your carry on bag). The dimensions for carry on are now 22x14x9.

I thought about this but opted to stay several nights in Oviedo before we begin our walk with hopes of seeing more of Oviedo and maybe a side trip to the North Coast. It made sense to just base ourselves out of there so we could sleep in the day after our long voyage from the States and adjust...
The 17:30 pm train arrives in Oviedo around 22:30 (5 hours). The only bus that comes close to that at a reasonable departure time for our fight at the airport is the 15:45 which arrives in Oviedo at 22:15 (6.5 hours). I think I will just go with the train at this point and not deal with the...

I am assuming a bus would take longer and negate the earlier departure? Just trying to not arrive so late in Oviedo. But, being as it is Spain it might not be such a big deal! :)
We land in Madrid at 14:20 and will continue on to Oviedo, carry-on only. The train times for Oviedo from Chamartin are 14:50, 17:30 and 18:26. I know the train to Chamartin from T4 is about 15 minutes. Are our odds of catching the 14:50 pretty nil even if all the stars align and things...
So excited after years of dreaming I'm headed out the last week of June for my first Camino. My mom and I will be on El Primitivo in less than three weeks. This is not my first long distance journey but my first abroad. Can't wait!
