    Zamora to Santiago via Sanabres

I think so. We arrived during a festival, with terrific pulpo and wine!

    Zamora to Santiago via Sanabres

Leiras. When you enter the town, there's an albergue on the right hand side of the road run by a young Italian couple. Great food and even greater conversation. They've walked the walk, are very intense; it was the most meaningful stay of my Camino.

    Zamora to Santiago via Sanabres

I did in 2016. Pretty crowded but a beautiful experience. Got coffee/breakfast on way out of town. Well worth it!

    Zamora to Santiago via Sanabres

Zamora itself is pretty neat; this past September 1-15 I served as a hospitalero there at the municipal albergue. We would typically allow pilgrims to stay an extra night if it wasn't full up, although that is a possibility. There's a good amount to see, all pretty close by, and the food is...

    Camino Sanabrés From Zamora (VDLP)?

I agree, the Monastery in Oseira is a really interesting stop. Also, I highly recommend the albergue in Leira run by, as Brierley mentions, a young Italian couple - I had a memorable experience there. May return.

To cross Pyrenees or not?? Experienced walker?

I did my Camino in 2017 at the age of 73 with a bit of a bum knee. I'd trained decently but not fanatically. I decided, wisely, to overnight at Orisson; the bit from SJPP is only about 9 km but it's steep, and the weather can be nasty...it rained all morning for me. Orisson was terrific, with...

    Spanish language question

Yes, it means OK or Sure; sort of how the English sometimes use "Right" - that's what "vale" means literally. By the way, the "b" and the "v" are pronounced the same in Spanish and are a bit odd for English speakers; it's a "voiced bilabial fricative." this means you bring your two lips close...

    Camino longing

I've always like the word "Sehnsucht", but what I'm experiencing now is more like "Fernweh" - and specifically for the Camino. Was planning on returning in 2019, but a family illness prevented that, then plans for 20, now that's dead, now hoping for September of 2021. Hoffentlich! !Ojala!

Changing plans - landed Madrid Monday 2 march 2020

I did a portion of the Sanabres in Sep-Oct 2016 with my BIL and SIL, and it was wonderful! Lot's of country walking, not too much highway. We started in Ourense, which we loved, even spent a part of a day in the hot springs. We mostly stayed in a mix of albergues, hostels and casas rurales...

    Hola, I'm Joselito...

Just signing in, giving intro. New at this. Planning (- hoping to -) on being a hospitalero this coming September; I took training in Victoria Canada last April, a great experience! Also possibly will walk to Muxia. Walked from Ourense to Santiago in 2016, and the Frances from St. Jean to...
