I prefer it if the decision to close a thread is taken by the moderators. I learn a lot from what members post, even if only that I absolutely disagree with what they are saying. Echo chambers don’t challenge existing opinions.
It may be a fault in that particular pair of boots as opposed to the actual brand. When I walked in 2025 my new Salamons let me down in poring rain but the good people st Cotswold Outdoor replaced them without charge. No problems since & I also live in Scotland. Worth asking for a replacement as...
Blue skies over Santiago! You are the chosen ones. Thank you for posting all the wonderful photos & updates on your Camino, it has been a joy to follow your journey & to see such happy faces even though the journey was originally motivated by a sadness. But what an inheritance your father has...
@stevetay3815 and @Caomhin O Fearghaill try searching for oranised pigrimages, routes and information about accommodation at https://britishpilgrimage.org
The organisers of the annual Rye Festival have included an organised pilgrimage as part of their programme of events see this link for a...
It is indeed, in my humble opinion it is the finest in the UK. The pilgrimage will be shared with a peregrina I met in Sahagun in 2015. I doubt that it will be possible for me to ever return to the Camino in Spain owing old knees & (not so) genteel poverty but can vicariously enjoy the...
Apologies if any forum member has already posted this but I only came across the information today. Planning to walk it in August.

I did follow up on this straight away & phoned the Confraternity office & was told to send an email to a named person but several weeks later I am still waiting for a reply. If anyone on the forum knows what the situation is please advise.
Perhaps I have missed a post or two but surely the simply answer is to say” I am on pilgrimage”.
@ dougfitz, I am sorry that your trust in someone led to betrayal. Although being one of those forum members who love the Martin Sheen movie ‘The Way’ I do wonder if one or two folk see it as a...
Thank you @GregorMc and @Bradypus for raising this. It did seem strange to me too. I will email CSJ tomorrow & edit the post when I have clarification.
Well this is a bit like shopping early for Christmas, but I just saw notification of this fundraiser recorded event for the CSJ in the UK. It features John Brierley, Rebekah Scott, Laurie Dennett and Johnnie Walker. It will be broadcast on 31 December and tickets cost £5 for CSJ members and £7...
@Flog, you write that 'walking a pilgrimage however long and arduous, doesn't automatically entitle us to charity.' Perhaps it would have been better to preface this statement with 'in my opinion' as others on the forum or on the Way may have a different take on this.
So, 'in my opinion, if...
In April 2015 I saw masses of them on the roadway through the woods between Villafranca Montes de Oca and San Juan de Ortega and also along woods on the way to Rabanal.
Having read the article in the online edition it is my understanding that you can read four articles in the Church Times for free in one month but an invitation to subscribe accompanies the information. There is also an extract from Rebekah's A Furnace Full of God from June 2020.
What a surprise, and unexpected pleasure to see an interview with our own Rebekah Scott on the back page of the latest edition of the Church Times. It is an excellent (UK) publication offering first class book, art, media and music reviews, as well as informed comments on serious matters.
Here...
Good morning @JabbaPappa, today marks the winter Solstice & the point at which the days start to lengthen. This always lifts my spirits here in the grey, dreich days of the Scottish winter and I hope that it may do the same for you in Navarra.
Several pilgrims have reported on the forum this year of having had negative experiences in the places between Los Arcos & Logrono, I am sorry that you are having this experience. Other albergue hospitaleros have respected you and the long pilgrimage you are making. To put a pilgrim out in the...
