Last year when I bought a new Backpack at a reliable place in Canada the person in charge of hiking equipment went online to check the requirements for Air Canada and was able to confirm my backpack would be allowed in the plane compartment. All was good.
Yes, the communal meal at Orison is fantastic, yet I am not one to enjoy a communal meal I prefer to eat alone. So when I am done I am done. I think I should have become a |Carthusian hermit, although I did think of it when I was a young man
I have been at Orison and seen some undermined things by the owner. A seventeen-year-old Italian lad was late and even though he had a reservation the owner kicked him off the property. A few of us who were Italian rescued him he was crying it was getting dark. We asked him if he had money...
I believe we all have to be vigilant. I stopped taking Camino trails that go through wooded areas. I had an older man follow me with his car. I finally climbed down a ditch to go onto a regular road. Low and behold he followed me on the road for about half an hour until I stopped and crossed the...
When I was in Madrid in early May to start my Camino I went to an internet store and I got a Spanish sim card. When I arrived in Santiago I got another since they are only for 28 days.
no wonder I stay in pensions! I had a man follow me in his car on a wooded trail when I was doing Camino Norte. I eventually walked off the Camino route and did the road and he followed me there. I eventually crossed the road and stopped by some construction place where men were out and just...
Permethrin is still the best protection. I spray my sleeping bag and saturate and hang it out to dry before I leave for the Camino. I also spray my Backpack my boots and my Outback hat. AS of yet no BB.
I prefer to walk the Camino del Norte, yes a bit tough but pleasurable. Three times walked from Irun to Santiago. A few years ago started in Bilbao to the end but prefer to walk from Llanes to Santiago. I did last year and hopefully again next year. The only problem with starting from Llanes is...
Lasting footwear. I wore my Keen boots last year and this year and perhaps how they look I can wear them next year on the Camino Norte. Keen are hardy and comfortable.
sad to hear of this how can someone do this to another human being? Hopefully, it was a mistake. This has always been one of my fears that someone would take my boots.
I have done fourteen Caminos and never have had blisters. Knee pain yes. I believe the walking boots I have always used brand name Keen are the results of my blister-free. Have done the Norte and walked mostly roads due to being harassed by creepers when walking trails in a wooded area...
I'm a solo walker and always have a main meal in a restaurant. Usually, you get the works affordable and plenty and wine included. I eat only one full meal around the usual time the locals eat.
I did Camino del Norte and started in Llanes started to walk on May 8th., and had no problem finding places. Yes made a few reservations but usually the day before. Mind you a cheaper fare in early May is the only reason went in May.
