We will walk Pamplona to Burgos starting October 26th.
Usually I booked accomodations in private albergues during summer and busy season walks.
This will be my first early winter walk.
How crowded will it be? Do I have to book ahead
or trust there will be a lot of available accomodations in the...
I understand public albergues will be open and most private closed.
That means having to phone ahead private ones to make sure they are open
How "bad" is it,?
somebody who is walking now has told me that some public albergues
Had stopped supplying blankets because of bed bugs.
She recommends carrying a light sleeping bags.
True?
Started yesterday from Limogne en Quercy, now in Cahors.
Where is everybody?
Gites are empty, trail empty
It's only late August.
Where are those who started in Le Puy 3 weeks ago?
would you pay 5 euros for breakfast which generally means day old bread, some jelly and butter, very weak coffee and maybe orange juice? too expansive and not worth it.
if you are near a bar and boulangery eat your breakfast there even if it means walking some miles to it or buy the essentials...
Auvillar, one day after Moisac.
What to expect: closed gites, very few people?
My guess is that we"ll meet pilgrims who had started from Le Puy 3 weeks before , so there'll be some pilgrims on the trail.
Hope to meet everyone else on the route between Figeac and Auvillar through the Celee valley ( Figeac- St circ la Popy- Cahors_ Moissacq) from October 3rd till October 10th.
(second time on the St Jacques)
My brother, his grandson and me.

For some starnge reason there is no night bus and only on July!!!
It's the bus from Madrid to Ponferada, Astorga etc that used to leave Barajhas airport at 0030
The service was available previouse years.
Any other way to get to the Camino (Villafranca del Orbiezo) at that time of night?
A fantastic information sheet that helps one plans the route.
I had it once and had sent it to many to help them plan ahead.
Now it's gone. do you have it?
After done both of them twice, after sending many friends to walk both parts over the year I think and admit of liking the GR65 more then the Spanish camino. The GR is more authentic, I felt the spirit was stronger, less commercialism, more joy of life. the gites are more wellcoming, the food is...
A friend who has just returned from the Camino reports that many albergues don't switch on the heating system, there might be shortage of warm blankets because peope who take care of the albergues are not there or not all the time, and bed bugs are more common now.
So- take a sleeping bag and...
