OBSOLETE COVID THREAD What would you do?

a colleague of mine was flying from Bilbao during the week - at the testing center a group of 5 people mid 20s tested positive - they were directed into a separate room where they were given the available options for quarantine in the locality.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD What happens if you test positive in Spain?

Its a classification system - Dark red = high-risk - my understanding is that this infers travel only if essential. Obviously diiferent countries have different rules based on individual criteria.

LIVE from the Camino The Camino Needs You.

likely to be more rule changes due to the current surge unfortunately. I am hoping by October with 70-80% fully protected then things may be more stable.

    Possible to walk May 2021

Inter regional travel is not possible also the infection rate is rising and Easter may possibly have a negative effect on this. The last I heard is that Spain wants approx 40% of the population vaccinated before restarting tourism. To early to book anything for May at this stage...

    Plans for 2021?

Was due to finish the northern camino from Gijon starting end of May 2021 - cancelled this. Will re-access later in the year to see if sept/oct will be possible but wouldn't be surprised if 2021 is a non-runner.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Santiago closes down today (Fri Oct 30) from 15.00

Exactly which closed the camino - also pilgrims had to reroute on the northern camino near Ribadeo earlier in the Summer. Your earlier point is factually incorrect. Your opinion or mine on the virus is immaterial.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Santiago closes down today (Fri Oct 30) from 15.00

A friend on mine on the camino Portuguese had to turn back and return to Porto in March as the border was closed and crossing at TUI prohibited - so I think you will find they can and have been closed before.

    The Ireland Way

Nearest flights from Dublin would be direct to Santiago or Santander. There is also a weekly ferry Rosslare to Bilbao but not sure if this is operating currently.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Portugal’s covid status updated here

i wouldn't say its hype there are also the practical/logistical issues - likely more areas will be locked down which will directly affect the Camino route on both sides of the border. The trend now unfortunately has deteriorated in last 3 weeks and likely to get worst before better.

📹If it was me, I would not walk the Camino in September

The advice i have been given from people in Spain is to wait and see how school reopening affect the overall picture. Also to monitor how the autonomous regions apply lockdowns and keep an eye on numbers/trends. The picture may be a little clearer by October. Right now is impossible to gauge how...
