    Efrén Gonzáles guided tour 2023

I take it as being (1) he wants to make another camino video, he's running out of caminos so needs an interesting new twist, and (2) this is a trial run for a potential new commercial venture, in that order. I don't know where this falls as far as insurance is concerned. Is it a tour or just a...

    Efrén Gonzáles guided tour 2023

Those are my words, not his. I'm merely passing on info I found on Youtube that people on the Camino forum might find interesting, and tried to make it as unjudgmental as possible, but clearly I failed.

    Efrén Gonzáles guided tour 2023

Everyone's favourite Camino vlogger, Efrén Gonzáles, is looking for people to accompany him in May/June on the Camino francés. https://www.youtube.com/@Efren./community https://www.facebook.com/groups/4496011317168974/permalink/4922674984502603/

    Preparing Chestnuts

For me that's the proper way for Brussels sprouts to be done at Christmas.

Your Ideal First Aid Kit for the Camino

I've only ever carried one or two plasters/bandaids in my wallet and if I need more there'll be somewhere in the next town. For anything more immediate and worse every other pilgrim seems to carry the stuff you need. One suggestion though if you are from the UK is to bring co-codamol. It's...

Bathtubs and Other Essentials While on the Camino!

When camping I always used to carry a universal plug that stayed in place due to the gravity of the water above it. It was for washing clothes at campsites and invariably used to get dislodged with me agitating the clothes. I only shower, I have never used my own bathtub (alone) in the 12 years...

    Preparing Chestnuts

I'm currently in Marvão in southern Portugal where they have been holding their annual chestnut festival this weekend. Yes there is such a thing. They are cooked in braziers that look like dustbins and are stirred around, and end up with a lot of the shells falling off and the flesh getting...

    Albert Looking for Richard

I hope that is a rhetorical question 😂

Help needed - getting from Dublin to Estella

There are buses from Burgos and Vitoria that I have seen with my own eyes (like there's another way). It would be easy to get from Bilbao to Vitoria, maybe there's a through bus. Look at the Jimenez website.

    Albert Looking for Richard

Ask them to pass on your contact details rather than the other way around. I hope they'll be OK with that.

Planning began to go in May or June for 4 weeks.

I can only talk about Spain, the rules are still masks on public transport and in pharmacies. Caminoing in September to November this year on various routes, everything feels back to normal, other than remembering to carry a mask.

    San Salvador

Go south to north, I never knew there were people who did the opposite. When we did it in September we saw maybe 3 other pilgrims on the entire route, so do check ahead for availability, especially now we're out of season. Take water and food to last the day, and at one point food to last the...

    Salvador questions

Another thing about nettles is that they are annual (if that's the right word) they are at their tallest now and will die off in the autumn. Depending on when you walk they'll either be tall and attack you, small and avoidable or dead. Personally I intend to do the San Salvador in September in...

    Salvador questions

For me less than a day, and we have a lot of nettles in England. Long trousers might be an idea though.

    Trekking poles

Here's a cheeky tip.... Pop into every albergue you walk past and ask if there are poles that have been left and forgotten for a while. I know from experience that poles get left all along the camino and after 24 hours no-one is going to go back for them. I have just bought 2 of these...

"Working from home" along The Way(s)?

For work I don't need anything streaming. All I need is access to a work-provided database and my current British mobile provider is fine. I had to change provider last year because of Brexit, British companies are no longer forced to provide the same services in the EU as in the UK, so I found...

"Working from home" along The Way(s)?

Hi Kevin, welcome to the forum. As someone who worked almost every day while walking the Francés last year, let me share my experiences 1) Does stopping mid-day make it more likely I can find places to stay without reserving ahead? Yes 2) Although I have an unlimited international 5G cellular...

What is between Sarria and Santiago? And Muxia?

Just to let people know, I'm (Casa San Xulián) back in England for the summer (90 day rule grrr), then caminoing in September. Reopening mid October. Sorry, thirsty pilgrims. They have Yorkshire Tea next door at Casa Banderas.

I wish he'd done that. Being where I am this is the difference between getting a Compostela or not
