Plan to cycle between Burgos and Leon over three or four days. Are there any interesting detours between these two cities that would take up a 4th day?
Hi.
Is anybody interested in sharing a taxi between Pamplona and SJPP on Monday, 29 April? Sometime in the morning, otherwise, I will catch a bus at 12 pm. There will be two of us traveling.
Ivan. I believe I can rent two bikes through you between Burgos and Leon. Can you let me know if this is possible? I plan to arrive in Burgos on 11 May and start cycling the next day.
Thanks
I read that municipal auberges will not accept luggage transferred by courier. Is this correct, if so is there a way around this? I prefer to stay at municipal auberges and carry my backpack since they are cheaper, my traveling companion prefers to transfer her luggage by courier.
Any recommendations for a convenient budget hotel in Madrid? Arriving at Adolfo Suárez airport at 8 pm, and catching a train from Puerta de Atocha the next day at 10:35 am. Looking for a convenient budget hotel, probably near the subway. Flying from Thailand so I just want to sleep.
Hi.
I believe older pilgrims get a 30% discount on trains on production of a pensioner card. I assume I can buy the card at Madrid station or preferably the airport. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
I did a web search with the Alsa bus company for buses from Pamplona to SJPP. The response was that no buses run on this route. Is this correct or do buses only run during the warmer seasons?
In which month would I be likely to see snow walking from SJPP to Roncesvalles? Not walk in it, just see snow on the mountains. Would there be any in April or early May?
Searching the Bueno Camino app on my android, yellow arrow on blue background, the description of the stages along the central route, under Route in Detail, is negative. Author focuses on tarmac roads, walking next to N-roads, train tracks, does not sound like a pleasant experience. Is this just...
Hi.
I plan to walk either the French or Portuguese caminos next year with family members and am working out a budget. Since I want to keep costs to a minimum, is the Portuguese camino cheaper than the French route for food and accommodation? On average, how much did people pay, per day, this...
I am interested in volunteering at an albergue, preferably along the Camino Frances, although I would consider the Portuguese camino. How do I go about seeking a volunteer position? How long in advance do I need to apply - I am looking at volunteering in 2024? Also, many posts mention taking a...
Think of walking the Aragonese Way, a pilgrim I met last year highly recommended it for scenic attraction. Any suggestions on how to get to Somport from, say, Paris? I will arrive in Paris by air.
Thanks in advance.
Looking at flight options from Santiago to London around 4th July. Flights earlier in the day are really expensive, 330+ Euros. I have looked at other options, flying out of Madrid,..., but the cost is still about the same. Any tips for an inexpensive way home will be appreciated.
On the Camino now, even better walking than cycling, which I did last year. On my next trip, friends are pressing me to take them, is there a luggage courier: SJPP - Orisson - Roncesvalles - Zubri - Pamplona? Would like to walk without a backpack for a change.
Thanks in advance.
I bought an Orange SIM card in Pamplona to use between there and logorno. Unfortunately, I am unable to get data, even though I got data in Pamplona. Is the Orange network very good along the camino? I used to work with mobile phones, so know how to set them up.
I am planning to start from SJPP on 1st June. I want to keep my backpack to a minimum, but am unsure about taking a sleeping bag, which I do not want to do. Late last July and early August, I found some mornings cold, Roncesvalle in particular may be cold, due to altitude and early in the month...
I plan to walk the Camino starting from St Jean Pied de Port, next June. From what I have read, the first day from St. Jean to Roncesvalles is very difficult. Being a bit older, 72, and wanting to enjoy the walk, is it better to split the first day and spend the night about 10km outside St...
I cycled the French camino last July. I assumed I could use my smart phone to look for albergues at the end of each day. This was a mistake, and finding accommodation late in the afternoon, when tired, was not easy and I often resorted to hotels. Walkers have an easier time since they are able...
