La Robla Albergue is now OPEN!

thanks for the reassuring news and info on registration. makes the unknown a little less unnerving (been walking a few caminos the past few weeks and it's hard to have an idea of bed availability on different routes)

    RETHINK walking the Frances

what it means is that you have foreknowledge. instead of feeling alone when trying to catch transport forward/back or have to book a hotel room because everything is full, you might be able to team up with one or more other pilgrims to keep the cost down.

    RETHINK walking the Frances

I was in sjpdp and the nearby towns for 2 weeks from mid April. I basically don't care if people walk the Frances or not. it doesn't affect me. but I'm putting it out there so people can reconsider their path if they don't want major anxiety. at the moment you absolutely have to book ahead...

    RETHINK walking the Frances

I did the Frances last year and came back to do some more hiking around St Jean Pied de Port this year. spending more time in the town and talking to locals I would strongly suggest people reconsider walking the Frances route this year (or in future). consider this - there are about 500...

If you take a small tub of vicks vapor rub with you, you can rub this on your feat at breaks and after showers at night, before setting of in the morning. It acts as both antibacterial aswell as like Vaseline. I've used it before and I will use it again next year. Another tip if you are...

    O Cebreiro Municipal Albergue-full??

Just wondering what the accomodation is like on O'Cebreiro currently- is it getting full really fast or can you usually still get a bed if you arrive at 1pm? It's about 100 beds and I read it fills fast. Thanks for any experiences from the past 7-10 days

    Comparing traffic 2021 to 2022

When you say "book ahead" do you mean you just call or message an albergue and ask them to reserve a bed and they do so on good will?

    Comparing traffic 2021 to 2022

Thus helps alot. I'm just about to do this leg (burgos to leon) starting tomorrow. I like to do long walk days and avoid making bookings. Does this sound worrying on this stage? Your comment made me hope it might be achievable. I will try and avoid the bigger/more popular towns for bed simplicity.
