The most difficult part of walking on the Camino is arriving in Santiago. I dread the feeling of the transition from being a Pilgrim to a tourist and the realization that it is over for now, is difficult for me to handle. What helps me is to have already made plans to return again next year...
I had let my Forum Membership expire and just renewed it a few minutes ago. Ivar like many others will have his revenue stream harshly affected by this mess. Less luggage storage revenue and the list goes one from there. If anyone reading this has had their membership expire or has never been...
Ah David you threads on the Camino are always something to look for.
Over the years, I wonder how many feet are better off due to the first aid that you have been providing on the Camino?
Sorry if I embarrass you my friend, but in my opinion you are on the top of the Camino Angel List.
I am a "Caminoaddict" in good standing I hope. I pretty much answer yes to every question but #6. Instead I am content to spend an hour or two with this Forum. (Signing on 2-3 times a day) Thank you Ivar for providing this amazing source especially for for all of us who are "Caminoholics"...
I agree with mike. It your feet can make it, the rest of you will follow.
Oh, and depending on the time of year, don't scrimp on rain gear. A two Euro poncho won't cut it.
Buen Camino
When I am two or three days away from reaching Santiago I start planning my next trip. That helps a lot. However, one Camino a year is no long enough. Perhaps there will be two next year?
Another name for this marvelous forum should be Caminoholics Anonymous. I love its 1,000,000 step...
Like most of us repeaters, I became positively addicted after my first Camino. It changed my life and when I am home, I start counting the days until I return.
Recently, I finally realized that being happier on the Camino then I am at home was not emotionally healthy. I was very happy on...
Happy Christmas to you too Al.
My special wish for you is that you have a very safe 2017. The photos you posted from your accident on a previous Camino are still haunting me.
Buen Camino Everyone
David you once again posted something that puts tears in my eyes.
Thank you for everything you do on this Forum and of course what you do twice a year for Pilgrims on the Camino.
May you enjoy a prosperous and healthy New Year and a Merry Christmas.
The Camino became my comfort zone. When I am at home I find myself needing to walk most every day, rain or shine counting the days until I return.
The Camino became a very positive addiction and I have no regrets. By the time I walk into Santiago, I have already started planning my next trip...
Silly Doll - Thank you for posting this information.
Ivar - Thank your for this Forum. My Camino experiences might not have been this positive without this valuable resource. I feel like I have made a number of friendships on this Forum as well.
When I am walking on the Camino, other...
I met a French couple in Fromista that had started their Camino in Bordeaux. It seemed that we kept meeting on the trail and after a few days we started walking together. One day, we stopped at El Ganso to have coffee in the cafe next to the Cowboy bar. It was a beautiful day and a lot of...
I always thought that the Pilgrim Passport was proof enough that "you were there."
The disrespect shown to this beautiful country by defacing and damaging the markers doesn't seem to change. Now it appears that the new markers look as bad as the older ones that were replaced and this...
When you walk into the post office take a number and look to the left side. The folks on the right side sell stamps and don't deal with packages. I didn't have any wait at all. Hope you have similar luck.
I mailed a package to Santiago from Pamploma in April. The package was sealed shut and the woman at the counter filled out the documents for me. Hopefully, you will have similar luck.

Wine is a very important food group, especially on the Camino. You have to eat, otherwise you might be too weak to carry her stuff.
Another idea: You could present her with a high end set of ear plugs.

Thanks for the "heads up." I purchased the new version and didn't notice how smooth and nonabsorbent the paper seems to be, compared to the other passports. A perfect example of being unable to judge a book by its cover.
I noticed that Ivar is still offering the older version for sale (Until...
I am a proud member of this Forum that my wife tells me should be called, "Caminoholics Inc."
Thank you Ivar for creating this and keeping it going. A special thanks go out to all the Volunteers who keep our posts on the straight and narrow.
