@islandwalker Elaine - Brilliant! Similar to you helping me navigate Wikilocs you have done it again! I have as yet not tried to split the GPX file however my initial question about Elevation Gains/Losses by stage is now answered. Super easy ...Load the GPX file saved on the Mac and then click...
Thanks Rick and @DoughnutANZ for your quick and helpful replies. I just googled « text editor » and there are multiple apps for IOS so will play with these.
Sounds from what both of you have said it’s kind of brute force editing once I have the GPX file in the text editor software…totally fine...
Hi...this is quite funny...at least to me. I am looking at a track from Forwalk from Lucca to Rome on the Via Francigena...you know just for fun ☺️. No problem I download the GPX file into Wikilocs. I now have a file with 415 kms over 15 stages with total elevation gains 7,325m and losses...
On my walks in the city almost always listening to music. On my Caminos no music as I find there are too many other sounds of interest. On my recent PEI Island Walk I reverted to music as there was no one around 😂
I believe you…fairly normal weather is icing on the cake on my story 😂. Almost all walkers bailed that day! Must have been something in my thinking that said “this is normal…walk!” 🤣
Oh my! 😱 Recently completed the Wainwrights Coast to Coast walk in the UK where we experienced wicked rains 80mm+ rain on a couple of days in the Lake District. Would have been good to know this information before we crossed the many, many raging streams on two particular days. Let me see When...
I am sure there are many ways to do this..I chose to create and maintain a daily online blog. For me it was a good way to remember…people I worked with pre retirement seemed happy to receive updates and pictures. Of course they had no idea of what this Camino walking was all about…neither did I...
Sometimes excessive snoring leads to something good…In 2014 my brother and I set out from St Jean Pied de Port and stayed in the Roncesvalles Albergue. A world champion snorer essentially kept the entire wing awake most of the night…had no idea such noise was possible…I know this is exaggerated...
Bradypus...wow quite an impressive set of graphs...well done! I also dabble at a much junior level in some graphs...just for fun. I thought given your knowledge you might be able to shed some light on 2023 numbers which...unless I am missing something...have to be incorrect.
Total number of...
Brilliant…success I think…downloaded as suggested…then on Wikiloc.com…pulled in file in 4 easy steps…added a PEI map and voila I think 🤔…available on my Wikiloc App.
Can it really be that simple…must be missing something 😊
The highest elevation point in the PEI Island Walk is 91m…yikes 😂…ok so...
Many suggestions for the GPX question asked and I appreciate them all. Over the next while will try them one by one. They all sound so easy when you know what you are doing…I am sure/hoping one of the ideas will do click with my non GPX brain!
Many thanks
Guy
Ok that will be my experience as well here is a summary of planned shuttle rides from my blog. Note though I have deviated from the 32 stages. The shuttle rides are planned to ensure I walk the entire route.
A friend of mine has stated this is the Camino de la Shuttle. If I was wasn’t walking...
Charlie you are absolutely correct that lodging is quite expensive and not always available at stage end points. I learned that early on as well as the need for multiple shuttles. B&B, Inns etc similar to when I walked in the UK along the river Thames.
I thought long and hard about this…in the...
Wow I thank everyone for really going the distance to help me out. Over the next couple of days I will try these various suggestions and hopefully report back with a success!
Much appreciated! I am told that it’s very difficult to get lost on the Island Walk however I know better…or at least I...
In 2022…after receiving great help on the Forum…I downloaded GPX files from the Wikiloc database and walked the Camino Primitivo and Camino San Salvador routes. Wikiloc was most helpful!
In a month I will walk the 700 km Island Walk in PEI Canada. I was provided the attached GPX file.
I admit...
I get the question totally! First Camino dropped off at the airport. Since then many variations however last year my wife Dawn drove me 1 km to subway station…after all walking 1 km with a backpack would be way too tiring 😂 and we said goodbyes there. This was my favourite way to do it.
Oh and...
Too funny! I have 3 daughters…so I am a very lucky person however they would tell me that I don’t look good in anything.
Having heard their verdict I would simply pick what I feel good in…to be honest that would be B because it looks so much like my one and only Camino hat.
