It made a difference to me, and I enjoyed it enough the first time to want to go back and do it again. Each time I discover something new about myself, not big things maybe but the clarity that comes with the walking has helped me make some decisions to be implemented on my return home.
25 km per day is a comfortable pace for me and is what I use when calculating how much time I will need for my Camino. Some days are longer, a few are shorter. It's all about what works best for you.
I feel your pain. Had about 30 in my front paddock last night. But this summer has been very cool and wet. Only three days over 40 and right now its 16 with rain and a cool breeze. (Central west NSW)
I had not heard of the film until I read about it here on the forum when I was researching my first Camino. I watched it before I left and again a couple of years later. I found it very enjoyable even though it was not the Camino as I had found it. The Camino Family aspect I felt was overdone...
I get a haircut and beard trim from my local barber before I leave and forget about it for the duration, apart from a weekly trim around my mouth with a disposable razor carried for the purpose.
I am very much in two minds about this. I have claimed Compostelas previously, however I don't know if I will do so in future. I will probably decide when I'm standing in the Praza do Obradoiro.
Just walk past with a Buen Camino and leave it at that. No one will be offended and there will certainly be time to talk later as you will no doubt meet in a bar or albergue somewhere.
And let's not forget 'sivvin' instead of seven, 'cluck' instead of clock and that unforgivable language abomination 'jandals' instead of thongs. :cool:
