LIVE from the Camino Our Vegemite only lasted 1400km

You're not using enough! Mine only lasted 800km.

Is there any elitism between pilgrims taking different routes?

Wow what a thread. I think anybody who has done any camino can return to their daily life with a sense of accomplishment and quiet confidence due to the personal journey and experience of self reflexion. I feel equally amazed by a person in a wheel chair who travels 100Km from Sarria, the 70...

    Is this a sign?

Hi Telboyo, interesting read, its not often you see a negative post on this forum but I did relate to your story and we probably have a similar history and experience on the Camino. I spent over 10 years in a Police Force in Australia, so nothing in life really surprises me anymore. In 2017 I...

    John Brierley cover photo

I think it is after crossing Alto de Mostelares, down on the flat. Check the top left corner of my photo.

Would you pay extra for a lower bed?

I'll take the top bunk everytime! My fear of heights is nothing compared to my fear of bed bugs dropping in my mouth and all over me during the night !

What does the camino mean to you?

Just to add my 5 cents worth, over the years a couple of phrases have become embedded in my mind, which resonate my love for travel: "To see the world, things dangerous to come, to see behind walls, to draw closer, to find each other and to feel, that is the purpose of life." (Walter Mitty...

    Are You A Camino Junkie?

    bed bug information

I soaked my PJ's and bedding in the Paddy Pallin brand and had no problems with bugs or allergic reactions. Another tip - sleep on the top bunk because the bugs will fall down onto the guy in the bottom bunk !

Food in SJPDP on Saturday and Sunday (in July)

Might sound obvious, but I'd also suggest learning Spanish for the food items you require or cant eat, maybe print some sheets because I was surprised by the lack of English spoken on the camino.

    Bed bugs

Paddy Palin in Sydney has a good range, I also soaked my PJ's and pillow slip. I think the bottle cost about $20 - think of it as an insurance policy. I never had issues with bed bugs.

"The Way" - The story behind the film.

Hi Deans, I read somewhere that the bridge scene was filmed some distance away from the Frances route because they couldn't find a stream that was flowing fast enough. I also noticed a lot of scenes in the movie seem to have been filmed walking in the opposite direction - must have been...

    Weather & Clothing - September 2017

Hi all, I'm booked and ready to leave SJPDP on 16 September for SDC. One issue which I am still grappling with is clothing, I'm checking weather forecasts for towns all along the Camino and this forum for tips, but seems like the best I can do is prepare for 4 seasons in 1 day. I live in...
