I’m an avid cyclist, but the “pedal-grinos” who suddenly come up behind you without warning.
Definitely the TP pollution. Don’t they realize how nasty it gets?

Hi DPat! I had been mulling over the same issue. My plan has been to walk the combined Via Podiensis & Camino Frances. I plan to visit Paris and attend Mass at Notre Dame following the restoration after the great fire. I was concerned about the impacts of the Paris Summer Olympics, which...
JustJack, The Camino is a metaphor for life, we’ve been told, with all it’s fears, joys and sorrows, but passing through it we become wiser, better, stronger people. Thanks for articulating the fears that more than a few of us share with you. My first and only Camino (Português 2017) had its own...
Pilgrim attire (including shorts) are fine, but tank tops and bare midriffs are inappropriate and men must always remove caps and hats. Backpacks are fine, set to the side. Some churches in Europe still require women to wear skirts, but these are getting fewer. Attendance at Mass is certainly...
My dear wife had younger onset Alzheimer’s. My daughters gave me a huge gift of their time, offering to care for their Mom and told me to go on Camino. At least for the time I was on the Camino, I was able to “lose” my cares and worries as a caregiver and renew myself so that I could come home...
With my original plan to walk the CF next month (now dashed) I’ve been doing my own “Camino Boot Camp”, mixing it up with hikes with a dummy-weighted pack, 25 mile rides on my road bike, 7 mile runs and weight training. Despite the disappointment of cancelling, still keeping up the routine in...
Alex, Right there with you. While I consider myself pretty fit with swimming/biking/running, I know, just turning 67, it won’t last forever. Having just lost my dear wife to younger onset Alzheimer’s and after eight years of caregiving, I feel compelled to take on this Camino, to grieve, take...
Having an overwhelming sense of God’s presence, knowing first of all that the Camino is a holy path, blessed by thousands walking it over the centuries, but also feeling His presence in the people I encountered, listening to their stories, sharing in the meals and taking time to pray along the way.
Your opening line says you “need” to take your doggie with you. I’m not judging. I really am not. I love dogs. I love my Black Lab. But I would never take her on Camino. It’s just too much stress for her and for me. If you’re flying to get to the Camino, I don’t put a whole lot faith in safety...
Also very popular in Portugal when we lived there; served with the Portuguese presunto. The nearest equivalent we have in the States is honeydew melon. The contrast of sweet and savory is wonderful!
