St. James gets a face lift?

    possibly this from the website

St. James gets a face lift?

No one is judging anyone. It would be nice if there was room enough for everyone to attend Mass. if there isn’t, it would be nice if people for whom Mass holds no religious significance gave priority to those for whom it does (Mass isn’t a Disneyland attraction). But that’s obviously not going...

St. James gets a face lift?

I think all are equal but attending Mass actually has significance to Catholics beyond a “tourist thing we do when on Camino”…it can be difficult to differentiate however, other than the obvious tourists pretending to be pilgrims who talk/high-five each other throughout Mass, or dress...

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 7.0

I spent several nights, it was my “base camp” for walking the first stage of the Inglés as well as a non-Camino walk to San Andres de Teixido (not from A Coruña 😱 I took a bus to my starting point). I ate too much while I was there…

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 7.0

I walked one stage of the Inglés; I wanted to start in A Coruña, and rather than the church of Santiago, begin at the statue of King Breogán and the Tower of Hercules (Farum Brigantium) to honor my heritage. The Tower is the best preserved ancient Roman lighthouse and the only one still in use...

I think it must be the calm shallowness in place (hoping not some toxic brew 😱)…there’s a place in Castro Urdiales with bronze statues of divers on some rocks are that are this color. Since usually I walked in heavy rain most of my seas are grey and white and blurry

I just assume you all don’t pay enough attention to what I post to realize I’ve already posted one of the area 🙂 a short excerpt please, or it didn’t happen 😀 …or at least an estimated release date??

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

I am still walking circles around my neighborhood on the streets and trails. Something new to look at: the first of the Halloween decorations. It’s not the angle of my shot, that skeleton is almost as tall as the two story house! Edit: the men in the neighborhood get quite competitive about...

St Michael is also the patron of the military. I was quite the Archangel-stalker when I was on Camino. It seems like you live in a magical place but I suspect you are what brings out that magic.

I live on a hill, and some hundred year old oaks were cut down for homes below (😢). I planted some manzanitas to block that view except a cluster of white houses in one spot…on some mornings the sun and fog can make me almost believe it’s Roncesvalles

So many reasons to dislike this non-native plant I agree…otoh eucalyptus groves are where the monarchs prefer to winter in California.

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 7.0

I think the low part is the shaded area but I’m relying on the article, they didn’t post pictures. Inside the chapel is easier to believe it’s a ship. At best for the outside, if I squint I can see the low part as the ship and the tall part as the huge Viking sail. I just want to believe it...

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 7.0

I’m going to be in a minority but this chapel has grown on me, especially after reading the info @VNwalking linked and seeing the pictures there. Normally I wouldn’t care for modern churches and Scandinavian interiors (although I liked the bell tower immediately ). But the explanation made it so...
