    Your Favourite Photos

Another one of my favorites is this shot I took of the bridge in Puenta la Reina. I have this hanging on my office wall, so I can see it while I work. I was lucky to get such a calm morning, and if you look close, you can see a solitary pilgrim dressed in orange at the center of the bridge. I...

    Your Favourite Photos

You'll find them in quite a few places. My favorite areas for sunflowers were from Villalcazar to Sahagun, Najera to Redecilla del Camino, and Pamplona to Puente la Reina. Best, Drew

I loved the early morning sunflowers, too. Great shot with the smiley face :-)

Great pictures everyone! So many mental tokens from the Camino. Clouds, trees, people, lighthouses, sunsets, and my favorite...sunrises :-)

    Pamplona during festival in July

I really enjoyed the San Fermin Festival, it's a spectacle to behold. The entire city participates, young and old. I agree with the two above that it's probably not ideal to stay in town while on the Camino. If you'd like to see the festival though, I stayed at Hostel Hemingway (Calle Amaya, 26...

I've been home under a week, what Camino to walk next?

This sounds right up my alley. I'm in the planning stages now for the Norte. I'm not so fond of the tarmac walking, but I'm sure the scenery, food, and people will more than make up for it.

wonderful meals along the Camino Frances

I agree! Albergue Hogar Monjardín was one of my favorites! I really liked my first night at L'Espirit du Chemin in St Jean as well.

The Way, inspiration, and the need to go back

Well said. "For the new ones: Jump. It will change your life..." I couldn't agree more.

    Between a rock...

I experienced this on my walk through July and August last year. The crowds weren't too bad, but the hot days were abundant :)

My stages for the Camino Frances in 23 days

Great! I walked an almost identical path last summer. I walked 22 days to Santiago and 3 more to Finisterre, and agree with you, that for some it's not very difficult. If you're used to walking/hiking/running long distances, a 25km+ day is actually rather pleasant. I also met some of may...

    Shipping My Pack

You have a good plan, and the advice on the thread is top notch. Last year, I took the same trip in reverse. I spent a little over a month backpacking before walking the Camino. I didn't want to carry around my jeans/jackets/etc. while walking, and shipped them home. You'll be glad to rid...

    L'Esprit du Chemin?

I stayed at L'Esprit du Chemin on my first night as well. It was the perfect start to an incredible journey.

    nervous wreck

I'm sorry to hear about the lady who got lost walking from Samos. Her story is not a common one though. The way is clearly marked, and backwoods experience is not a requirement. Try to relax, you're going to have a great time!

Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela-most difficult

Great answer with the separation of physically and mentally. For me, the physically challenging stages were so beautiful that time flew by and my body didn't feel it until I stopped for the day. On the mental side, that walk into Burgos felt like an eternity :)

    Camino very busy now

Good advice. I found the same thing last year on the Camino. Traveling solo, it's always pretty easy to find a bed for one. So on the Camino, I never had to reserve a place until the end. In Sarria, I stopped at four or five places before finding a bed at La Magdalena. A gentleman having a beer...

It's official - we are going

Not to mention your proximity to Yosemite and Pinnacles! I have to drive 7 hours from the southern part of CA :)

Have fun, Dave! Congrats on the training, two 14ers should have you ready to hit the trail!
