    Zubiri or Larrasoana?

We stayed here too in 2022, our second time. A lovely warm welcome, a private room and a delicious evening meal and a help yourself breakfast.

    Alto Pradela route - amazing.

I agree. We walked this Variant twice and loved it. The views are spectacular!

Advice on getting two beds at San Anton convent

The bar was closed down when we walked past there last May.

    UK Guardian story today

What a beautiful story. Made me cry.

Disappointment with Torres Del Rio - try the Palace instead!

We stayed in the Palacio in May. Great place. The owner doesn't have much English and when an American rang enquiring about the cost of rooms, my husband acted as translator for both of them. For dinner we were served thistle soup - a first for me. Quite tasty and, let's just say - very high in...

Church Run Albergues - Camino Frances

Hi, I haven't heard of Oasis Trails. Maybe someone else on the forum may know of them? You'll have a wonderful time on Camino. Just be open to experiences and enjoy 😊

LIVE from the Camino Traffic on the Francés

I was sad not to be able to stay at Zabaldika in early May this year. Last time I walked the Camino Frances, in 2019, someone told me about Zabaldika. We visited (as we did this year), but didn't realise one could stay, and we'd booked for Zubiri anyway. This year, I know Zabaldika didn't open...

Where are the May Francés pilgrims?

We're in the Fisherman's Lodge, in Ambasmestas. It's very hot and we've walked 34.5kms today. Walk up to O Cebreiro tomorrow. Reccomend this albergue. Got twin room in a row of wooden chalets. Big garden and a pond. Clean and reasonable.

Church Run Albergues - Camino Frances

We visited there last time. Someone told us about the beautiful church and about ringing the bell. Sadly, we didn't stay there as we were booked in at Pamplona and had stayed in Zubiri, so hadn't walked far. I had decided that we would definitely stay there this time, but unfortunately they...

Church Run Albergues - Camino Frances

Thank you Vacajoe. I would like to stay at albergues with 'spirit' whether or not they are run by the church. I stayed at Granon last time and loved it. I would have liked to stay in more albergues similar to that one. I would like the chance to attend Mass as often as is possible too. I...

Church Run Albergues - Camino Frances

Thank you Rebekah. I'll make a note of the ones you mention and will look at the link. I do remember stopping for refreshments at a place advertising 'free hugs'. It was full, but I remember thinking that if I ever return I'd like to stay there, but I can't remember where it was, or the name of...

Church Run Albergues - Camino Frances

Hi, we're going to be walking the Camino Frances at the end of April. I'd really like to stay in albergues that are run by volunteers or the church. It's important to me to make this Camino a religious/spiritual pilgrimage as far as possible. Last time we walked, I missed out on some...

    Zabaldika

We did this too, in 2019. Yes, it's quite loud, isn't it!😁🔔

    Zabaldika

Thank you for finding the information @kirkie. I'm sad we won't be able to stay there, but will certainly climb the hill to visit the church again. I wish the sisters every blessing in the work they do to support pilgrims. I'll take a look at the albergue at Trinidad de Arre.

    Zabaldika

The welcome we received in the church and the atmosphere of peace was beautiful.
