Best place to stay: Logroño or Naverette?

Why not both? Logrono is where I like to check into a hotel for a bath tub, and eat a real Spanish dinner. After a lazy breakfast, wander to navarette. These "short" days replace off days for me. The body gets a break, the mind stays in the pilgrim zone.

    How many days

We don't know how long it will take you to walk to Santiago. Nobody does. 28 to 38 days cover most walkers from sjpp, but many are slowed up by injury as well. The good news is that you will know after a week or two what your walking pace will be.

    Salceda and O Pedrouzo

I have done salceda (the touristico is very good) to lavacolla a few times. That's a more relaxed day, and you get into Santiago early enough to catch the noon pilgrims mass. Lavacolla has a bunch of choices since it's the airport.

    Weather concerns 6/20-6/22

Watch the skies. Seek shelter during a lightning storm, they don't last very long. As others have said, walking the Napolean during bad weather is both foolish and a waste of time since you won't get the views anyway. Other than that, have good rain gear and a change of socks for the times you...

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

Congratulations, ya done it. Embraced it all, from the good to the great to the painful to the mundane. Swallowed it whole, just the way it should be done. Today is a triumph, tomorrow you're a tourist. In the months to come, when you are safe back home in your old life and your feet have...

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

I am very happy for you, and just a little bit jealous because I know that feeling well. Most pilgrims do not make the walk to Samos, and that is a shame since it is a very special place on the Camino. But back to business. Prepare yourself for the change that starts tomorrow as soon as you...

Yup, my favorite croissant on the Camino!

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

Much remains ahead of you. On my first Camino at this point we were walking for Foncebaden. We paused on the way out of Rabanal and looked at the steep incline that would finish the day. It was cold and raining on and off. My wife peeked through the fence at the Posada Gaspar bar, which is on...

    Resting in Burgos

Do the NH when you have a chance.........best bathtub on the Camino, if not exactly budget friendly.

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

I suggest that you stop off at Moratinos tomorrow for second breakfast, they have a great selection of tostadas. You are about halfway down the Frances now, and for most, the "kinks" of the first bit have been worked out. Look after your feet. And since you are a music fan, allow me to share one...

First time at Beilari hostel - experiences and tips

You know the Hampton Inn just off the I-25 in Arvada? Well, Beilari is nothing like that at all. Leave your expectations at home. It's a great place to learn the ropes of albergue living though. You will be fine. Go with the flow, and be patient and courteous to those around you. Your cell mates...

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

Many pilgrims find rest days.......jarring......since they take you out of your rhythm. I find I can't switch from pilgrim to tourist and back again quickly or easily at all. Yet the body needs rest sometimes, and needs to be listened to. Many find that a short day of 5-10 km or so every week is...

LIVE from the Camino CF-things are not that bad - May 2023

Yes, I agree. Let us equip them. Coping and managing strategies are good. I personally would never set off from SJPP the May Day long weekend or the first two weeks of September. That's just asking to have your coping strategies tested. I'm not suggesting that being caught in a wave is not...

LIVE from the Camino CF-things are not that bad - May 2023

I remember the same apocalyptic panic happening last year at the same time. I was on the Meseta over the long weekend, and there were no issues to speak of where I was. We'll hear about the sky falling the first week of September too, and next year, it will be the same. Statistics says that many...

No room in the inn? - Coping strategies

Your whole post is the book on this subject, but for those who simply must have assurance of getting what they want, where they want, when they want, this is the best advice possible!

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

I second Granon, you will probably love it. A note of encouragement regarding the issue you had with finding a bed. The worst is over now. Between the end of the holiday weekend, and the uncomfortable fact that a bunch of people will end their Camino in Logrono due to injury, I think you will...

    Descent into Molinaseca

This is my single favorite day on the Frances, but I am part goat, and have good knees. Anyone with bad knees should seriously consider breaking it up by stopping in Acebo, and taking a taxi to molinaseca. It is the longest steep descent on the Camino, and anyone who has trouble on descents...

LIVE from the Camino HELP!! Nowhere to stay tomorrow

I have had luck with appealing to the hospitalero where I am staying. They seem to know who to call down the trail, since they do this every day. As was mentioned, you have the misfortune of passing through a city on a long weekend, but with a little luck you can find a municipal bed. Without...

LIVE from the Camino The Adventures of Dani7 on the Camino Francés

@Dani7 , you have made the transformation to being a Pilgrim, and glimpsed the true essence of the Camino. Keep going, there is much more to come. Buen Camino to you.

Suggestions for a place in Pamplona to spend 2-3 nights before stating CF?

An excellent plan, but most are hesitant to recommend anything without knowing if you are looking for an albergue or a four star hotel. What makes a good place in your world?
