    albergue in Roncesvalles full!!

I don’t think there’s a taxi service out of there (could be wrong) but there are taxis ferrying walkers from Pamplona to Roncesvalles and SJPdP that would otherwise be returning empty so could probably be found willing to take you with them (for a price). I took a taxi to SJPdP and I think he...

Detour to see the Eunate Church

No. No one near by on whom to use my sad/expectant pilgrim face. But I took a picture of the interior posted on the sign and it looks sort of like the hazy pictures taken of other interiors on my 2012 iPhone…so sometimes when I scroll through pics I think “hey I don’t recall getting inside”...

Detour to see the Eunate Church

I’m wondering how many of their wedding photos have a pilgrim in the background 😀

Detour to see the Eunate Church

I didn’t walk all of the Frances but I think there’s an octagonal church on a hill in Torres del Rio. I did walk past the octogonal church (but with a tower) Vera Cruz past segovia. 🤷‍♀️

Detour to see the Eunate Church

I don't think I could from the Frances (from SJPdP) just from me looking at a map (your eyesight may vary :)) , but I believe you do see it in the background in a scene from The Way (when Tom meets Father Frank). I think it's on the Aragon route so undoubtedly from there you would see it. When I...

Detour to see the Eunate Church

I'm impressed with all the early risers who got there before opening. You either walk really fast, get up really early (and I'm an early riser), or started really close to Eunate. I went back to look at my photo time stamps to see if maybe it had different times when I walked, or if I'd...

THAT enduring tissue (etc) issue on the CF in particular……

Eventually town residents will tire of putting up signs begging “pilgrims” to behave better and just put up cameras.

THAT enduring tissue (etc) issue on the CF in particular……

For those who need facilities after caffeine: make sure you plan your day accordingly: have some early enough that you’re still in town at the appropriate time, or delay it until you know you will be near one of several towns. Carry doggie bags then carry your waste to trash can (yes even if...

Detour to see the Eunate Church

God looks out for drunks and sparrows. I assumed it would be open, it was and no one else was there. My only disappointment was I’d heard there might be an albergue and if that was the case I would have loved to sleep there…sadly no one was there to ask so I stamped my credential and wandered on...

Detour to see the Eunate Church

If you want to practice put Eunate into google maps, start in muruzabal and “walk”. I’ve been spectacularly lost on several caminos but found this all by myself with no problem Buen Camino! https://goo.gl/maps/6qBsVKtiFQh2WtgN7

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

I imagine more women because of the average age of parishioners Yay, prequels!!! I got behind and was binge reading but telling myself “oh no, it’s almost over, stop reading and save some for later…” AC palacio del Carmen is amazing.

    On the road again...?

I think this is the season @mspath often walked…

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

Well that would also work except it’s harsher on hands although probably less harsh than sanitizer

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

If it’s any consolation, regular soap and water is better than hand sanitizer.

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

Some disposable sheets are recyclable although I don’t know if they’re sold in Spain or the price.

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

I think it looks quite deluxe, the community and the volunteers have done an amazing job.

That’s good. It will prepare her for Astorga 😱

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

I read somewhere else that it’s a covid rule. As for locked out I never had that problem being asleep long before lights out…but I have had to climb a fence once to get out in the morning

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

I tried to find pictures on the internet (without success other than the front) but it said there are horse stables! https://www.wisepilgrim.com/camino-frances/calzadilla-de-los-hermanillos/albergue-de-calzadilla-de-los-hermanillos i got excited but I think you said no place for horses...Phil...

Waiting for pilgrims in Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

🎉. any word on the cat? i'm wondering where she's slept before here, and is it wrong I'm relieved she's not American? by cubicles do you mean room full of a bunch of bunks, or is each bunk in it's own alcove? If that's the case I'm (a) super jealous about cubicles and (b) doubly curious about...
