I did the tour a few years ago definitely only Spanish, however still very interesting and as a bonus the young girl doing the tour would occasionally tell me something in English.
Yes that is a lovely diversion and then onto the monasteries of Yuso and Suso. Makes for a very long day to Santo Domingo but an amazing diversion. I also just follow the Electric poles from Azofra to Santo Domingo involves about 1km
Walking into Santo Domingo on the road it’s a pretty good...
El Acebo is a lovely village with great mountain views La Rosa Del Agua at the beginning of the village for private rooms and El Meson is a great Albergue.......
There are some wonderful volunteers and some not so friendly volunteers, having done the job I will say it is hard but never so hard as to not be friendly and help wherever I could. It’s usually only a 2 week gig.
You could go with the no visa for the 3 months and then when you are there apply to extend to walk the Camino. It may be easier from there.

The running of the bulls is a night time festival so when you walk through in the daytime all the drunks will be sleeping it off. You will not find too many crowds in between 9 am and 2pm.
My Birthday is Oct 6, I walked the Camino from SJPD in 2014 for my 60th, arriving in Santiago on my Birthday. My children were there to meet me. What a wonderful experience.
