I am so sorry for your loss. May the Camino’s eternal reach (feel however this is meaningful for you) comfort you and your dear ones, holding you all close in love. God bless, Catherine.
🦋😀Paulo Coelho mentioned ‘the dogs’ too. We stayed in Rabanal, after reading his book on our first Camino Frances, 2012.There was a little bit of dog barking at the moon, nothing too malicious. Quite the opposite happened. An also a mythical like horseman, for some reason rode repeatedly past...
I am so sorry you are sick, and also to other pilgrims who are testing positive on this thread.
There is good advice here already, so just to reiterate - rest and care for yourself gently. The Camino will wait and it plays with time, yeah? Maybe you can frame your healing as ‘unexpected...
Thank you for your posts. They are evocative and also highlight just how unique each day can be, from a previous day, and a previous walk.
We are also returning to walk the Camino Frances after ten years. My husband, Tim retires in two weeks time. We also promised each other we would return at...
I can relate too! Thank you for sharing such bright news and wish everyone you see, plus yourself Buen Camino from me too. I am the same as @Camino Chrissy waiting on vaccine roll-out, border openings.
Ahhh, may hope spring eternal.
It does all remain to be seen.
That said, it seems totally human to speculate about when-to-go in such uncertain and trying times as a global pandemic. For now, I try to employ pilgrimage-in-place philosophies that so many of you generously share here and...
I am sorry to read you experienced such disregard for your own, and others safety. You are wise to be vigilant and as you say the precautions are not difficult to follow. Sending you aroha (love) from New Zealand. We have no community transmission of the virus because of strict measures that...
I hear you and feel for you. Hopefully the opportunity will revist and the twenty years you have planned this will eventuate in a Buen Camino for you. One year ago I set out on my second camino from Le Puy en Velay to Cahors and pretty much to the day I was hoping to be back in Cahors to pick up...
We totally agree. Hotel Paris was perfect at the end of the Meseta - we had the spa all to ourselves and the price is reasonable. We had a rest day in Leon which saw me walking to the modern art museum and various other cool places so roughly walking from 9a to 3p - go figure! Such a cool city!
It is really sad news to read the refuge is closed and also that the Church access is in question. Let's hope and pray something miraculous happens and the right people 'appear' to resolve this situation.
Firstly let me say I am sorry to read you had this unpleasant experience on your Camino.
It too is part of the Camino History and today we are fortunate that we travel in relatively peaceful times however opportunists (and we don't know their circumstance or need) have always been a fact of...
I am starting the Camino at the beginning of May and planning to reach Finisterre. I see John Brierley has justed published a 2011 edition and maybe I need to update from my 2010 one?. It is doubtful this would reach me in NZ before I leave, I am guessing you can purchase this easily enough...
Hello Little Akaloa
From one Kiwi to another - I really appreciated you asking this question and the advice you have received.
Anyone, anywhere can drink infected water - I personally got a bout of giardia from a DOC hut in the Marlborough Sounds, NZ in the late nineties. Not recommended -...
Our start date is set! Super excited and have just invested in some Merino Thermals as I have heard it is still pretty chilly in early May PM/early AM. Yeah?
