Sept/ Oct or Apr/May for CF

Having done both the welcome birdsong and frogs croking etc..all missing later In the year- just Erie silence. Much more early and late daylight with longer spring/ summer days makes it better for me.

    June or September ?

Additional thoughts to other replies, I found Sept eerily quiet in the mornings, but June had great birdsong -frogs croaking and lots of small mammal activity in the countryside and much more daylight as well as more flowers inbloom etc. Paths are drier by September and harvest though. Both...

    2016 September/October Peregrinos Departures

Depends on how early you are arriving. I arrive on the 13th midday and staying in the fine Belleri, a repeat of my 2013 booking. Place for non-Catholics Holy Communion

That is not the catholic churches position on this "Sacrement". Blind eyes are what they imply. There is a detailed thread on this subjcct on these forums where "knowledgable Catholic church facts" are given for a belief in trans-substanciation of the host during the consecration in the mass is...

    The Start and the Finish

If possible the going from or through SJDdP is a must inmo. The later in spring the better weather wise. So much history, scenery, challenge, and a proud "yes" to all who will ask along the way. The transatlantic flights to Dublin does link up nicely (timewise) with a flight to Biarritz and so...

Just About Done For The Off

What a profound and great question is "why am I doing this". On the Camino, especially going solo, you can have the time and tranquility to consider the answer which could change as you walk . I wish all those empowered to make decisions that affect others asked the same question more often...

Nearby is the interesting large gallery of modern art (no.72)...

    66 Year-old Irishman starting SJPdP mid-March 2016

If you need any specific info please ask. You can see the Camino walking I have done since I retired at 66. It gives an additional purpose to generally keeping fit/walking. It is a great experience. A sleeping bag liner was enough for me as blankets were usually available in many albergues so a...

    Dealingwith the heat

Protect the lips if possible with a high sun factor. The very freguent use of a water bottle can irritate "burnt" lips and cause infection. I had that problem. Pray for cloud cover and shade
