    Keep the trail clean!

I pick up litter on the trail and dump it in dustbins. I try very hard not to leave any bodily functions anywhere except in a recognisable place such as a toilet but ... after 4 Caminos I have now realised that I must NEVER eat beans or lentils - it upsets my digestive system and although I...

Where to buy protein powder in Burgos?

When I returned home, exhausted, from three Caminos, I vowed that I would solve the exhaustion problem. I come from a place where we EAT meat and use SALT, so for my most recent Camino I made a point of getting in enough meat and salt, and it was so much better.

    Breaking down,Building up?

I weigh 150 lbs. That is not too much! That is normal. On my first Camino my body broke down at about 200 kms. On my recent Camino my body did not break down because I listened to my body and maybe I am wiser (over 65).

    Breaking down,Building up?

I have done 3 Caminos - first was a physical disaster, second was wonderful and the one finished last month was stupendous. What I have learned is to walk slowly. In my life I usually go at speed. On my good Caminos I ambled. I have learned to drink Clara's at the bars and water, things I never...

    Food!!!!!

I craved salt with my food. When I asked for salt it usually arrived after a LONG time. I am told Europeans and Americans are now eating less salt and in some places it is against the law to add it to food. On my 3 trips I always arrived home ... something was physically wrong and I was bla...

I want to walk the last few days with my son who is currently in Zubiri. Is this possible?

The major focus of your training now is checking to see how your feet cope with a 10 km STROLL. How you cope with carrying a daypack for a 10 km AMBLE. Do not overdo training in these 2 weeks. Stroll and amble for 3 hour stretches every day in these 2 weeks, SLOWLY. You should manage. Good luck.

    Join me?

I walked that route at about 7-15 kms a day. I had a stress fracture in a bone in my foot so it was very slow for me. Initially it was lovely being alone as very few walked at that speed. However meeting new people every evening become rather tiring. Having a companion is nice. In the last two...

General Questions regarding a possible trip

Do not worry about this URL. I was there in July and was not really aware of tar or roads. Obviously there has to be some roads and towns. Traffic, I did not hear. I believe there are one or two stretches on the route where traffic is a problem, it depends on the route taken. A positive spirit...

    warning about hostel in Ciruena

Re The warning about the hostel The posting was negative and did not contribute to the ethos of a pilgrim which is humility. Personally it made me rethink what I was going to do. I am traveling thousands of kms to volunteer as a hospitalero in the Basque area, later this year. I just hope I...
