I think you've pretty much laid out the territory in your question and the answer is in your personal choice. Personally I like to reserve at the start so I have somewhere to land and then take it flexibly day by day. Apps like booking. com etc can be very helpful and the Camino Frances is...
If she was two days beyond the iron cross a week ago I reckon that puts her somewhere near Villafranca then and, continuing at the same pace, possibly near Arzua/Pedrouzo now. Santiago is a further day or two then it's around four days to Finisterre. Everyone takes the Camino at their own...
There you go....another use for Brierley guides- airport pilgrim spotting.
Have a great (and unique) time. Sounds like you're getting on pretty well without extra advice and are well set up for a Camino adventure!
I'd say go when you can. I've walked in July and as Bradypus says it's likely to be hot; covering up, plenty of water and avoiding midday sun will be helpful. Accommodation might need booking, especially near SdC.
On the other hand it can also be refreshingly wet in Galicia in July (- or any...
It also might be useful to know that roaming across EU countries changed last June. Now a phone plan or SIM from one EU country should just transfer to another EU country at no extra cost. This makes phone use a lot easier on Caminos that cross from one country to another.
Thanks for posting, your video really brings home how close these fires are to pilgrims.Scary. I'm guessing that any increase or change in the wind could have produced a serious situation for you.
Stay safe everyone and maybe talk with any pilgrims you come across who aren't aware. I've seen...
Hi Shawndra
Hope you can take some deep breaths and step in to this adventure. Really, many people will be walking the Camino everyday so you can usually find companions along the Way, or not, as you wish. Everything is well waymarked, just keep an eye open for yellow arrows, or the clack of...
Ps- have you got medical insurance? If so, their helpline might be the best place to start, they should be able to help with locating assistance and language help.
It's not great feeling ill and vulnerable on the Camino. here's the details Centro de Salud de Estella Paseo de la Inmaculada, 39, 31200 Estella, Navarra, Spain =34 948 55 63 50
I like the idea is that they are multi-use but they will leave small holes in fine material. I suppose there's no chance of clothes blowing away and maybe slightly less possibility of them being 'borrowed' off an Albergue line?
Personally I carry some plastic clothes pegs. They only weigh a...
Myself and a friend walked this in 7 days, so it's quite possible. It was 30 years ago though- I'd probably enjoy ambling along in twice the time nowadays.
Have a great Camino, whatever the speed.
Keep an eye open for yellow arrows and you are unlikely to get lost.
Here's a link to vegetarian albergues and restaurants on this forum which you might find helpful. There are plenty of shops also...
There's a tradition here of deterring cats from the garden with a bottle of water placed in flowerbeds.
I've just enjoyed an internet journey which reveals a whole load of cross cultural beliefs around cats, dogs, flies (and electricity meters!) being influenced by full water bottles. Rich...
Hi Yellowfriend , I hope you can take some time now to really settle back home and do what you need to feel safe and at ease.
Only you can answer the question of why you had such a struggle with the latter part of this Camino. It sounded quite overwhelming for you, so the decision to leave in...
Hi, I don't think you said which route you are thinking of. If it's the Camino Frances there will probably be enough places open, there are pilgrims walking this throughout the year. It can still be cold and snowy in the mountain sections ( the high route from St Jean will likely be closed) so...
