I have just asked my camigo Aurelio (as mentioned by Laurie above) who lives in Lisbon, and this is his response:
…There are currently three good custard tart factories on Rua Augusta. My favorite is the Manteigaria. Located on the right side of the street going downhill (towards the Tagus...
I walked from Lisbon but it was way back in 2014 and there will have been many changes in the meantime. However I doubt the route has changed much and you are welcome to take a look at my blog where I posted daily with info on the landscape, accommodation and lots of photos.
I walked from Lisbon back in 2014 and found a walking partner from this forum as I was a little nervous walking solo on a camino that I read was little walked. As it happens there were several others walking at the same time. I posted to my blog each day about the type of trail I was walking on...
I walked from Lisbon in 2014. I think there are one or two additional albergues that have opened in the meantime. I walked from Lisbon with another pilgrim who had a preference for short stages and I didn’t have a tight schedule so I took it easy until Porto where I decided to go on alone and...
I have encountered many aggressive dogs closer to home (in Spain) when walking in the mountains with my terrier sized pooch. I am not the focus of any attack, but my poor innocent dog. I have learned that walking sticks are not much use as they are so lightweight and the attacking dog is so...
It's three years since I walked from Lisbon (bumping into @amorfati1 from time to time). I used @peregrina2000's notes to assist our exit from Lisbon and for work-arounds to long stages. I believe there are now a couple of new albergues which should make it easier to walk shorter distances...
Hi @peregrina2000, take a look at my blog post for the stage between Vilafranca de Xira and Azambuja. Our friend Diogo describes where we went wrong in the comments at the end of the post. Hope this is useful.
I walked in 2014. I think there are a few more albergues now. I posted to my blog every day from the camino with descriptions of the landscape and accommodation and lots of photos. You are welcome to take a look...

Aurelio and Rita also took Eli and me for 'the real thing' served at room temp with a shake of cinnamon accompanied by a strong black coffee (which was like bad medicine to me as I don't drink coffee at all, but when in Lisbon...). As for the pasteis de nata, I have never been offered a hot one...
Not a video blog, but I posted to my blog each day from the CP from Lisbon in 2014, giving lots of info and photos. You are welcome to take a look here
Hi Alan, you are welcome to take a look at my blog. I posted everyday from the CP from Lisbon in May 2014 with lots of info and photos. It was my second Camino (now planning my fifth) and I enjoyed every step.
Bom Caminho!
https://magwood.me/camino-portuguese/
My first Camino was the Frances, followed by the Portuguese from Lisbon, the Mozarabe from Malaga and this year the Norte from Irun to Ribadeo, then on around the coast to Ferrol and the Ingles.
All experiences have been totally different and challenging in their own way. The Portuguese has a...
Have just looked at my blog from the CP in 2014. I clocked via GPS distance from
Villafranca to Azambuja 20 km
Azambuja to Morgado (picked up by Mario from Santarem Hostal) 19.25 m
Morgado the Santarem (dropped back by marido the next day) 17 km
So if I read your question correctly (and it is...
You will definitely benefit from substantial cushioning. The cobble stones will get to you sooner or later, and seek out every tender spot on your feet. I walked in boots in a heatwave in 2014. I had no problem with overheating, but I wished for thicker soles.
Bom caminho!
Aurelio and Rita were kind enough to introduced @eli and me to a wonderful pasteleria - I have very fond memories of spending an afternoon in their delightful company. Wish I could be joining you in Lisbon, but will be walking the Camino del Norte.
Bom Caminho!
I hope it suits you as well as it did me.
You may or may not want a glimpse of what is to come on your walk. If you do, you are welcome to take a look at my blog where I posted every day live from the CP - http://magwood.me/camino-portuguese/.
I have just re-read my post for the stage from...
When I stayed in Coimbra in May 2014 I stayed in the Residential Larbel0. A clean and pleasant small hotel in the heart of the city by the river. I was sharing with another pilgrim and the twin room cost 35€.
The street was a bit noisy as there was an all night student party going on...
