Taxi from Tui to Pontevedra on a Sunday

In 2019, whenever we needed taxi service along CP, we dropped by a café and asked a staff member of the cafe kindly to call a taxi for us. It worked every time.

2021 Porto to Santiago de Compostala

The weather was great for our walk on the Central route of CP between May 11 and 30. There was light rain in one morning. I am hoping the CF route would have been open in May next year.

    finding my way around

I was with a group of 16 friends walking CP started at Porto this May. #1 - All of us using either booking.com, expedia, etc. booked "hotels" with free cancellation without experienced any issue. We chose the ones with rating of 8-9 and sensible customer reviews. #2 - During the walk, we met...

    Tui to Santiago this October

Our group booked and stayed the following hotels through booking.com last May. All hotels had free cancellation, but conditions vary. Tui - Hotel San Telmo, Albergue San Martin O'Porrino - skipped. It's an industrial town. We walked to Vigo instead, on the Coastal route. Redondela -...

Lugguage Transfer on the Portuguese Way from Porto to Santiago

I used Tuitrans in May this year and was satisfied. They replied to my inquiries within 24 hours. It offers two options: 1. By the trip - I provided a list of hotels in advance and a quote was provided. As such, I paid in full in advance, but I didn't need to call them every day. (Some of...

TuiTrans on the Portuguese Coastal and Spiritual Variante

TuiTrans provided my group of 16 luggage transfer service on CP for 11 days in May this year. At times, some of our folks stayed in AirBnBs where there were no receptions, they needed to pick up room keys from another place. My experience/impression is: If the hotels/albergues/furnished...

Camino Portugues - Tui to O Porriño

Yesterday we walked from Tui to O Porriño. There were two routes, the “original” and “Complementario” (sp). Although the Complementario (sp) is a bit longer (1.5 km?), it runs along a creek and in a forest-like environment. We walked on “dirt” trail. On the other hand, the “original” trail...

Foot wear - a thought or two to share

Today is our 5th day on Caminho Português from Porto. The first day, we walked along the coast. The “trail” was mainly on boardwalk. My daily road running shoes. Once I reached the Central route, I had to wear trail running shoes. 90% of the trail covered were asphalt roads and uneven rock...

To all the experienced CP travelers: ? about train systems

To be mindful the bag(s) one places in the overhead-shelf in a train - I hope I am not an alarmist. A few years ago, I took a train from Munich, Germany to Vienna. A fellow traveller put his bag in the overhead-shelf and relaxed. However, when he was ready to get off the train and noticed...

If I have to miss a stage...

I will be on CP late May. My plan is to walk from Tui to O Porrino (14 km), then to Vigo (16 km) for the night, then to Redondela next day. My plan is to walk a half-marathon a day.

    Luggage transfer

I haven't on CP yet, but I think it can be done provided your hostal or alike not out of their way. You, or the receptionist of the hostal, simply call the luggage transfer service the night before and they will pick it up next morning.

How to decide where to stop each night

I think it depends on your requirement(s) for accommodation. Some of my friends insist to stay in places where there are private bathrooms, then they have to stop where such accommodation exists.

    Portuguese Camino

My CP trip will be May 12 to 30, 2019. Except in Porrino, all hotels are booked with free cancellation either through booking.com, expedia, or directly with the hotels whichever offer the best prices. I guess hotels in Porrino do not accept reservation till the new season (April, 2019. ) Air...
