Wednesday was ourmost difficult day yet. What should havebeen asimple25. 5 k (16mile) stroll turned into an all day wanderin thewoods. We got so lost it was comical noticing how ourminds can project yellow arrows where noneexist.
For the sake of those following us: when youget to the second patch...
Aye, we had a funny conversation with a local when we were lost. We were trying to ask the way back to camino and she had no idea where we talking about. Just as we walked away she suddenly realized and said 'Santiago ! That way!' pointing north.
We saw the synagogue but not the Matchbook...
Thanks to the both of you for all your work on the way. Yes, you hear silly things in the cafes along the way. I am glad they are not true. The only reason I do not dismiss this type of rumour out of hand is because I have witnessed the battle of the arrows on the French way. One guy wants the...
The CP is not like Camino France where thereare long line of peregrinos, locals who are accustomed to their presence, and a well defined way. Here you are much better off taking all info yougetfromthebook, from the waymarks, and from maps as being suggestions and, sometimes, fantasies.

Thanks! Looks like the weather forecast is moderating somewhat and the high temperatures of each day returning towards averages as the week goes on. We should arrive Lisbon on Friday and may spend a few days kicking around the city letting the worse of the heat pass. From the charts I am seeing...
Does anyone know about this route? http://www.agencia.ecclesia.pt/cgi-bin/noticia.pl?id=95363 Thanks to Mike for bringing it to my attention! It appears to be an alternate route for Fatima hikers from Lisbon. I have heard it has more accommodations along the way. That may make for shorter days...
We are looking at doing between 18 and 20 miles a day for the first week as per the Brierley guide but I do not think that is going to happen even if we get up at 5 AM. Temperatures are predicted to be hot as far as the predictions go out. This will be a challenge.
We are one week away from starting Camino Portugues in Lisbon (August 22, 2013) . We did Frances last year. I am already eying the weather forecast for Lisbon and it looks like another huge heat wave is about to hit with temperatures over 100 f predicted.
Has anyone walked this route at...
