    Albergue situation from Lisbon

Apologies for putting two of the same pics of the Albergues list. I don't know how that happened and don't seem to be able to remove one of them.

    Albergue situation from Lisbon

And look for the small yellow arrow low down on the wall on the right as you enter the cathedral for the start of the Camino.

    Albergue situation from Lisbon

I spotted this sign as I was walking into Barcelos. Its probably not up to date though. I only had one night when there was no accomodation at all, the first night out of Porto, 27km, Vilarinho where there is not much accomodation. Everything full so I took a taxi on to Sao Pedro de Rates as...

Things to Do : Madrid v Lisbon

Having spent time in both cities I would have to give Lisbon my vote. Madrid has the Prado, my favourite art gallery in the world but other than that??? Ancient Lisbon has so much appeal as others have mentioned and then there is the beautiful and extraordinary castle and grounds of Cintra. This...

    Missing out

I walked the the Portuguese from Lisbon last year and for the first week did not see any other peregrinos. It was a wonderful walking meditation which I felt was just what I wanted as it was so good to be away from endless talking. Further north I did meet up with others occasionally but tended...

Lisbon to Santiago in July! A few questions:)

I suggest to get any stamp from a restaurant or hotel in Lisbon although a day spent in Lisbon would be so great and allow you to get a stamp from the Cathedral. It will be hot walking and I very strongly suggest that for the LONG HOT DRY leg from Azambuja to Santarem that you stop for the...

How empty is the Lisbon section?

Yes, I was a bit surprised at how quiet it was but as I said I found the solitude to be most enjoyable and gave me ample time for contemplation.

How empty is the Lisbon section?

I walked from Lisbon last October and did not see another pilgrim for the first seven days. Ahh, the luxury of solitude. I slept alone in the fire station in Alhandra and again at the nunnery in Santarem where I had the whole place to myself. After leaving Porto it was busier. The first leg was...

    Portugal

Last October I walked the CP from Lisbon including the inland route from Porto. I can't comment on the coastal route but found that the inland route through the forests and hills was the most enjoyable part of the whole walk. I don't recommend walking from Lisbon as its mostly flat country with...

LIVE from the Camino Rain, and then some more rain

Its probably wise to void the climb over the mountain from PdL as its like to be a river running down the rocks which is the track. I agree about Rubiaes. Valenca and particularly Tui are far more interesting.

Fountains for drinkable water on CP?

Yes, the small bar 'Pesce' half way up the hill from Ponte de Lima is a most welcome spot to rest and have a snack by the fish farm. Then at the top of the climb there was a mobile bar with coffee and snacks before heading down the goat track to Rubiaes. I don't know how seasonal that one is though.

Solo Walk on Portuguese Last 100KM

Walking from Tui you will of course be in Span not Portugal.

    Lodging in Lisbon

The train is a really good option. Sta Apolonia to Porto three hours for 25 Euros trains nearly every hour. The CP train app is very useful you can book using the app.

Can you walk from the Lisbon Airport to Old Town?

I'd suggest just catching the train from the station right in the airport and save your walking for once you get into the old city although I guess it depends where your accomodation is.

Guided Tours of Sintra from Lisbon

We just caught the bus from the station which was quite easy. There were a lot buses running an efficient shuttle service. At Sintra there was almost no waiting either. We were reasonably early and it was a Friday, 16thNovember, it may be much busier at the weekend or perhaps we were just lucky...

Guided Tours of Sintra from Lisbon

Ahh yes. You are quite correct it was Rossio. We were glad to take the bus but spent hours walking around the beautiful gardens.

Guided Tours of Sintra from Lisbon

Sintra is a must do. I was there recently with my daughter and had a wonderful day. As others have said a tour is not necessary although I would recommend an early start to minimise crowds. We just caught the train from Sta Apollonia and the bus up the hill to Sintra. Lunch in the restaurant in...

LIVE from the Camino Superb weather on the Camino Vila do Conde to Barcelos

The walk up the long hill from Ponte de Lima was most enjoyable and challenging in parts. The best fun was stopping at Pesce on the way up the hill for refreshments. As I entered the bar the grand opening of Beethove's 5th Symphony was playing. I felt truly welcomed, and also enjoyed the snack...

    Advice

I walked the CP from Lisbon a month ago and very much enjoyed the contemplative opportunity. After all I thought what was why one does the Camino. I thoroughly enjoyed the first seven days when I did not see another soul on the trail. I began with a trial run from the Cathedral on day 1 to see...

    Coastal or Inland Portugese Route?

After the steep rocky climb from Ponte de Lima there is a short very rocky descent but the rest is quite mild.
