    Do you have to check in for your flight to Bilbao or is it all one ticket? Either way, there should be lots of time to deplane, collect luggage, check in and drop off your luggage and have a snack before boarding. Buen Camino!

    The National Museum of Anthropology is across the street from Atocha station. There is a tapestry museum a couple of blocks away (I think it's only open Monday to Friday). Reine Sophia is a block away from the station as well as the Royal Botanical gardens.

    I stayed in a lovely terrace suite at Hotel 1898 just off the Ramblas. It was convenient to everything we wanted to see. I was disappointed with the restaurant for breakfast but made up for the cold eggs by drinking all of their complimentary cava :D Edit: sorry not a small hotel!
