Oziboyz mentioned' luggage'
Somewhere, maybe this forum. I read about a group of Albergues along the Camino Frances who have decided that they will not take in Cases, only rucksacks, because the cases are so large and take up so much room in the dorm. I cannot be more exact then that.
However...
The bus from airport to bus and train station is very regular maybe every 20 0r 30 minutes. You pay on the bus with a 0ne euro coin. Organise yourself to have it ready. The bus stop is just outside the exit from arrivals and is clearly marked' Buen Camino
I plan to do the same portion of the Camino, Burgos to Leon this year . For me living near Dublin airport, Santander gives me the option of a midday flight. However I will have to overnight in Santander as there is too little time between air and bus it is only 90 minutes.
I can no longer do...
Reading my previous post, one might come to the conclusion that the journey takes 2 and a half hours, whereas Gwen reckons 3 and a half. The reason being that Portugal is one hour behind Spanish time.
ALSA have 3 buses daily from Santiago to Porto, They stop first at the airport in Porto .The bus times are 9.30,am, 11.30 and 6.00 pm. The 9.30 arrives at Porto airport at 11.55.
They go from the bus station in Santiago. It is advisable to buy tickets in advance as there can sometimes be...
I have so much admiration for all of you west of the Atlantic and the amount of money you are prepared to spend in order to do the Camino de Santiago. Buen Camino to you all. Lydia
Janet and Phil, I do hope you are home safely now.
However I imagine that none of us here today had to wait at a the town now called Puenta la Reina waiting for a man to ferry us across the river.
Hi Antonius, Like you I carried my bag for years and did not book accommodation. then one year I had my grandchild with me, and did not want to be looking for an albergue with a child who might get anxious so I booked. Well the difference!! no longer having to race ahead all the time with...
Now that the bus station in Santiago is beside the train station, does anyone know whether the bus from the airport still goes via the old bus station?
have heard of pilgrims from the USA flying into Dublin and from there one can get a flight with Ryanair Tues Thurs and Saturdays to Biarritz in France. From there you can take a taxi to St. Jean Pied du Port . At the moment flights in Oct are about €50 but no more advanced flights are...
Thanks Colette for this clarification.
I have booked to fly Ryanair from Santiago to Malaga after my Camino and then Malaga to Dublin.
I never intended to have a second small bag with me, but I now realise that I must book priority.
It seems to me that flights booked very near the departure date tend to very expensive. However I live in Ireland and so I am not talking about long haul flights.
Perhaps you could look at the price of a flight from Madrid to NYC next week and compare it with the price of a ticket for next...
The Maritime Museum is well worth a visit also.
There is a funicular railway up the very steep hill to the north of the city leads to a lovely park. The station for it is at one of the stops of the tour bus.
Enjoy your trip
As Far as I can tell the Bus from Santiago to Lugo (Empressa Freire) passes through the airport ten minutes later. At the bus station in Lugo it is possible to get a bus to Sarria. The bus from Lugo is ( Alsa.es)
Buen Camino,
Lydia
We plan to arrive in Sarria from Lugo on a Saturday at 19.05. I know that there is a 19.30 Mass in Santa Marina. however there appears to be three bus stations in Sarria. Can anyone tell me the exact address of the bus station in which the bus from Lugo will terminate in order that I can plan...
