LIVE from the Camino Don't forget the curfew!

If that example can be taken of what they are eligible for ( the situation 2014) they were eligible to have the necessary tourist accommodation book and complaints procedure, so for something as important as fire regs and the possible outcomes in an event of a fire I can't see they are having an...

LIVE from the Camino Don't forget the curfew!

I think we are going back 9 or 10 years, maybe there is a thread about it somewhere, where do I dig this up? I think CSJ has an arrangement with the Diocese in Friol about the building and it's ownership, rent etc.

LIVE from the Camino Don't forget the curfew!

No they are not, the CSJ albergue in Miraz had an issue a few years ago when a pilgrim asked to see their book/ form, the hospitaleros didn't know what they were, "the pilgrim" went to the police and they turned up asking to see the form. CSJ at the time had to question themselves was it worth...

This might be too late in your day too make a difference but there is fluvial path South before the bridge and it connects up with the other option for this Camino, which is the original path before the bridge was constructed, it reconnects with the variant from Ribadeo at Mondonedo, it is a...

    Norte Accommodations - COVID Updates

I was lucky enough to have found out about this place when I was on the Norte in 2012, this isn't one I feel you can put down to the Pandemic, but it helped make up his mind of what has been there for a few years, it felt like it was only going to be short term back in 2012.

Want to travel from Villaviciosa to Oviedo but then get back on Camino Nord at Gijon - thoughts / possibilities?

I agree with @peregrino_tom on this, the walk into Gijon is more pleasant and challenging than the way into Oviedo, the only downside is the next stretch to Aviles but even parts of that are very natural and rural. You could probably as suggested go to Gijon on foot and then bus or train to...

Plea for patronising the albergues between the Gronze stages

I do get your point( I hope). In a normal year many people stay there irrespective of the Gronze stages, this isn't a normal year.

Plea for patronising the albergues between the Gronze stages

I started from the Albergue in Cadavedo, several people who were there as well just walked the 15km to Luarca, I don't blame them the location is stunning. I am not against people staying in Pinera, I hope they do and they have. I respect the OPs plea, but as a forum group and as largely...

Plea for patronising the albergues between the Gronze stages

But you aren't going to have enough non Spanish pilgrims to make a difference this year anyway, next year( fingers crossed) it changes. One of the problems of the location it is in, is that it's only 17 km past Luarca and even if Pinera was the end of the stage, many people would still go to...

Plea for patronising the albergues between the Gronze stages

In busy periods people stay at the Albergues in between the stages, I stayed at Pinera 10 years ago and on the day I was there some young Spanish guys were given mattresses and slept in the hall because the bunks were taken. The unfortunate circumstances we are going through mean a lot of...

LIVE from the Camino Advice on Norte now - Ribadeo to Santiago

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. If I had to make a suggestion then it would be get to Mondenedo then make a choice about skipping a section or two. It does ( or did) have some infrastructure and towns between it and Ribadeo, you could always check in at the tourist info in Ribadeo...

    Northern Caminos: Updates, Accommodation List

I have stayed there twice, I love the location and have fond memories of the Albergue. The 1st time I walked back to the official Camino in the morning and walked to Colunga that way, it's all asphalt, it's no great shakes and when you add it onto the excess of asphalt you will encounter between...

Who goes Camino del Norte now?

My friends are meeting in Ribadeo on the 18July, at the moment Ribadeo is in the restricted A Marina de Lugo area which means pilgrims can't enter, however they believe that this area will be more focussed on a specific town on the Camino Do Mar when they extend the restrictions again this week...

    If you had one week...

There is a few links out there but this one comes from the official Cantabrian site, it says 4 days but increase it to 5 for the more pilgrim friendly way out of Santander, then add a day on the way to Potes because it is quite hard and there is attractive little variants...

    If you had one week...

It's probably bit of a drive to get there but you could walk from Santander to Santo Toribio it has it own credential for this route. To avoid most of the industrial slog out of Santander you could go via peregrina2000 route. It would be about 6-7 days to complete.
