    Miraz Albergue. 4pm opening

Hi Hughb, I was going to reply to your comment about it not learning to relax and enjoy my fourth camino in an angry way but I can't be bothered, by the way, my biggest regret is letting judgemental posts annoy me! Regards George.g

    Hello from the Norte

Hi Bobbie, Glad you enjoyed the Norte, but it sounds like you didn't like the roads, I found that so long as the super highway was in operation, the local roads were very quiet as a rule, and I don't mind walking on the road as often the of road option gave the best views (however there were...

Camino del Norte: Good or bad?

Hi 'NicoZ. Re helicopter ride home, just a poor joke on my part, but you know the weather patterns have been a little strange, we had more or less three weeks of rain. It got a little tedious at times, but I still would not have missed any of it, the vistas are out of this world, between the...

Camino del Norte: Good or bad?

Having just completed the "Norte" in the last few days, I find it very difficult to quantify it in terms of good and bad, for sure there were days when I prayed for a helicopter ride home, and other day's when it was the only place to be, I've walked the French way and the plata and it's not like...

    Miraz Albergue. 4pm opening

Hi perigrino Tom, Thanks for the reply, I now understand and see the reasoning, I guess the actual position of the albergue presents its own problem. I have got to say that the albergue is simply the best, and the people running it while i was there were great, and like I said got up at a...

    Miraz Albergue. 4pm opening

Hi Mike, I think I agree with you re the word "customer" but never the less the albergue does exist to support pilgrims. I in no way want to sound critical of the people running the albergue, they could not have been nicer, even to the extent of providing a breakfast at an ungodly hour. They do...

    Miraz Albergue. 4pm opening

Ref the first two replays, I don't think I can accept that it's just the way it is. If it was the same last year it suggests that it's an instruction from a higher authority, if it's the CSJ'S mission to support pilgrims then perhap's it's time for a more "customer" focus. Given that I am no l...

    Miraz Albergue. 4pm opening

Let me say up front that the Albergue at Mirza is probably the best, most welcoming albergue on the Notre, the facilities are second to none, but can anyone please explain the opening hours policy. I arrived after a fairly long walk from Vilalba to be faced with a choice of a couple of hours...

Mirage on the way to Miraz

Still not certain wether I believe what I saw or was it a result of a chorizo overdose. Coming along the road near Baamonde was a small agricultural type ride on tractor thing towing a cabin the size of a medium garden shed, it seemed to be fitted out with all amenities. Has anyone else seen it...

    June 2013: Albergue in Bilbao?

Bilbao Albergue Go out of the bus station, uphill, go past the hospital and turn right, cross the road at the zebra and continue half right up hill. Do not follow the arrows marked A continue to the right past some shops, the 7story building to your right is the Albergue. Regards George.g

    Gontan Stage 26

Minor change to the Cicerone guide, there are no washing machines or dryers at Gontan, minor detail I know, but when you arrive soaking wet not the best news, but that's Camino I guess. Regards George. G

    Accomodation stage 25

If you plan to stay in Gondan. We arrived in Gondan and 'phoned the number on the albergue door only to be told that the albergue was closed and to walk on to San Xusto. No problem except that the albergue there only has about 14 beds, one shower and a small kitchen, but the restaurant about...

    Accommodation Stage 20 and 21

The sun has got its hat on (for now at least) If you want to shorten stage 20 in the Cicerone guide Aviles to Soto de Luna, then add Casona Selgas, 30e for a single plus dinner and breakfast to your lists, its in El Pito, its not in the book and makes these two stages more manageable. We have...

    Gijon albergue

Hi from Gijon. Pleased to report that the rain in Spain has abated a little and the local paper advises that we can expect a few days of clouds and sun, thank the lord. If you are on the Gijon in June or July, and don't want to stay at camping Deva or the youth hostel in Gijon, then go to the...

    The rain in Spain

From Pendules If you stay in San Vicente Due La Barquera, there is a very nice small alberge in Pendueles, its not in the Cicerone guide, just follow the road onto town and fork left after a bar, donativo with dinner and breakfast plus Wifi Albergue Aves Due Paso. But d'ont forget all you...
