Thanks very much Peregrina, so helpful. I'm torn between returning to the Via or heading accross to one of the northern. I always make up my mind last minute! May I ask you please, why is the Olvidado your first choice? Would there be enough albergues open at the moment? Do you like the...
Thanks very much, I had completely forgotten about that wonderful website which I've used in the past. Are the albergues listed there open now, or is this pre-covid, many thanks.
Hello, I'm wondering if there is a list of accommodation for the VdlP, like the pdf for the French camino? I'm starting on Wednesday the 15th of June, and don't have my guide book with me, so any advice would be helpful.
Also, I'd be going from Salamanca to Santiago, is that recommended at this...
Thanks guys, so helpful, I think I'm going to keep doing my Mozarabe walk! I believe that after Granada there is another association (not Paco's) does anyone know their details? Any good ideas for guide books please from Granada on?
I have time off in April and again in July/August. I want to continue the Mozarabic from Guadix towards Merida, and also the Via to Santiago from Salamanca onwards. Does anyone know what the Mozarabic would be like in April? I'm guess July August will be too hot, the bit I did last year in...
Hi Ern, I would recommend starting at Seville and see how far you get. That way you just continue and work your way along the Via when you next have time, and you get to see it all. That first section mainly in Extremadura is very beautiful. Just don't do it at the height of summer!
Hi Just Karin, thanks. To be fair, H Simon may have been using up old ones, and may have new ones by now. I don't use the basic maps on the back of credencials, but their one was a real waste of space, and not even the Camino I was walking. I like collecting lots of stamps (btw the local town...
I think 4 weeks is reasonable, I took about that time, and had a few rest/exploring/short days mixed in there. There are beautiful towns and areas to walk through and I tend to spend time enjoying and exploring. I would really encourage you to do that too. The people I met who explored and...
I'll look up the info later, but I need to do everything on a budget and usually use albergues, so a hotel room would need to be less than 15 Euro for me, I shared a room with my friend, so that's probably around what we paid each, and I think there was pilgrim rates. I've often stayed in lovely...
Don't do it, way too risky dealing with that kind of heat and long, long distances in remote areas with not so much infrastructure. Also, in my opinion leaving so early each morning and then sitting in a sweltering oven of an albergue all afternoon and evening defeats the purpose of enjoying the...
I have been putting together some memories of the VdlP which I walked earlier in the year. I've spent a fair bit of time on this, and thought I might as well share them for the benefit of others who may be planning to walk in January. I'll add the rest in instalments over the next few days...
Gronze is really helpful, and reading threads on this forum. The Kelly book is useful, but I found the layout a bit confusing at time, and sometimes not quite accurate (but I emailed him - and the new/next edition I'm sure will be event better).
January was wonderful, warm and sunny but great walking weather, and only a few walking between Seville and Merida. After that, no one. It did get snowy though getting near to Salamanca.
I would leave behind the washing line trowel, teddy and tripod. Did you include an adaptor for Spanish power points? I've never taken a knife, nor needed one, but found a small spoon or spork really useful. If you've got anti-histamine would you need lavender oil? If you're careful using...
