One (water) bottle to rule them all?

I used Vapor folding bottles. I brought 2 as they are super lightweight, but only filled needed to fill one and refill throughout the day. They are also durable. I am still using mine 8 years later. https://www.vapur.us/

    Packing - edition one

For a container / plastic bag, you might consider a Stasher bag. Silicone instead of plastic, very light, and they are leakproof when closed, they are easy to clean. They come in various sizes and shapes. https://www.stasherbag.com/

    Question about towels

Decathlon makes an excellent microfiber towel in various sizes. We also use them when we go to the beach to dry off after being in the ocean. I brought a different kind last time, but will definitely take the decathlon one on my next Camino.

    What Size Water Bottle/s

I brought 2 Vapur foldable bottles. I never had to have more than 1 full at any time. They are super lightweight and are available in various sizes. They are easy to carry and to clean. They are also very durable. 8 years after my Camino, I am still using the same ones on hikes...

    Small hip/shoulder pack

Many of the mono-sling bags can be worn in front, in back, or on your side depending on how you sling it.

    It's been done before... cutlery/bowl/cup?

I brought a spork. I think a folding bowl or cup could also be useful, not for communal meals, but for things you might pick up along the way at lunch or before dinner and might want to share with someone, or some take-away that turns out to be messier than you had anticipated.

What should I do about a phone?

If you can do a dual sim on your existing phone you can add a second sim easily in a place like Pamplona. If you have an iPad you could also bring that and add the sim to the iPad. That I what I did.

    Small hip/shoulder pack

I have a mono-sling bag from Piquardo. https://www.piquadro.com/en/collections/mono-sling-bag It can be worn in the front when I have my backpack on or in back in the evening. It holds an astonishing amount of stuff if necessary. it is lightweight. I use mine all the time. Very convenient for...

Struggling with 1/2 size larger - Lone Peaks - insole recs?

You may need a different pair of insoles. When I had knee issues some years ago, a PT measured my foot and although I wear as size 6 1/2 shoe (37 Italian), they recommended purchasing Supefeet insoles (the green ones) in size 8 and cutting them down to the size of the shoe. This worked much...

What clothes to wear at night?

I brought a skort to wear in the evenings with my shirt for the next day. Could also wear it for walking on a nice day or with tights if cool. For sleeping, tights with a fleece pullover.

Please bring a sleeping bag of some kind

I agree with the need to bring a bag I did not when I walked the Camino. I walked in May. Mornings and evenings were quite cold. I brought a liner, a fleece shawl that I used as a blanket inside the liner, and a fleece pullover that I wore as my pijama every night. Aside from our hotel breaks...

    Apple Air Tag

The tag in the luggage will let you know where it it, but it won't necessarily help you get it back. We had a relative fly to Europe this year. The suitcase was lost. Based on the tag, we knew exactly where it was at all times. We contacted both the airlines and the courier company the airlines...

Open to criticism on my pack

Yes, the bottoms get muddy, would be great to be able to just switch them out.

Open to criticism on my pack

You could bring a buff instead of a towel if it is just for wiping sweat. Also helpful for keeping the sun off your head, Or you can wet it and put it around you neck or head to stay cool. if you are brining a skort, you could also bring tights instead of pants. that is what I wore in the...

Can I use a liner only?

I definitely agree with the idea of a light bag or fleece throw with the liner. I personally had a liner with a fleece shawl and slept in a slightly large fleece pullover. Even when there were blankets, sometimes there weren't enough for everyone, and I only saw them in a few places. May can...

    How to get weight down

You can use a vapor collapsible bottle to save weight. They weigh next to nothing. I carried 2, but only had to carry1 filled with water at any time as there were plenty of places to refill.

    Sleeping bag

Would definitely recommend a light sleeping bag or small down-like blanket. I walked CF in May 2016 and it was quite cold all along the way, and windows were always open at night. I carried a sleep sack with a light fleece shawl that I used as a blanket but it was not really enough.

What not to take? And what to not forget?

All the responses above have pretty much covered everything. With regard to your water bottles, if you are concerned about weight you might want to bring a couple of collapsable Vapur water bottles. They weigh almost nothing empty, and full they can be clipped onto your backpack or sit in the...

    SIM Cards Again

You will be glad you have the sim for email/ internet browsing. The wifi in many places was extremely slow.

    Fleece as middle layer

It depends on your temperature preferences. I am basically a lizard. I walked in May 2016. It was cold. Every day I started out wearing a short sleeve technical t, a long sleeve technical t, an Eddie Bauer fleece jacket (light to mid-weight) and topped that with a Patagonia rain jacket. As I...
