I Have a 42 l pack for winter caminos. And a siniliar list of items as mentioned above including a good sleeping bag. Plenty of space left in it for buying food every day!
I am in the middle of the camino Frances rigjt know, with a pair of low altras 4.o. I am so so happy with them. No foot issues at all so far, I feel great!!!!

I don't have an answer to yr question, except to say I am also leaving soon for my 1st Camino and all the info I am getting is you can't take them in carry on. When are you leaving? Are you doing the C. Frances? Maybe see you on the walk! Good luck!!
Wow, really? Now you will make me change my mind again, because i am actually chomping at the bit to start walking.... however, someone else sent me a reply, stating many cafes are closed and I should carry my own food, was that yiur experience, too? During which month did you walk?
