I've never sent bags ahead but I might need to in the future. At home I use a Deuter waist pack that I also use on the Camino. I can't see needing a full day pack with most stretches having lots of amenities.
No problems at all. Mine is about 10 years old so maybe they just don't make them like they used to?
I use an extra long shoe lace (also works as spare shoe laces, and clothes line) and tie it around my waist just under the pack. And if I'm walking without poles I weave my hands back inside...
I always bring my poncho. First time on the Camino was the end of June 2013. We had visions of using it as something to sit on while taking a break or even using it to make shade while taking a break in the treeless areas.
Unfortunately it rained most of the time so it got a lot of use...
Currently walking. Left Carrion this morning. So far blankets available everywhere.
Using camino ninja app and not too accurate. It states some albergues are open but they are closed. It seems albergues are opening later than normal due to weather and covid. Prices are higher for everything.
The problem I am finding in our corner of the world (BC, Canada) is not finding brands of shoes but rather finding sizes in stock. New stock just isn't finding its way out here so options for footwear are extremely limited.
Sorry I can't help with your dilemma. But glad to hear the Hoka...
I bought my orthotics a half size larger with the intention of probably having to trim them down and because they were originally bought for the camino boots I had which were larger. Nothing as irritating (physically) as feeling the slight edge of the insoles in your shoes. I don't find my...
I have been wearing custom orthotics for a number of years now. When you order them make sure they are sized up half a size rather than an exact fit. I have been buying my shoes a half size larger (especially on the camino) and have never needed to trim the orthotics. Of course I only buy...
I was thinking of buying period underwear and using them for this purpose. My daughter has used them for years for their intended purpose (along with a diva cup) and loves them.
Definitely recommend an umbrella, but I only used mine for shade when we were lucky enough to have lots of sun. I don't do well with hats as they keep too much heat in - part of the reason I also prefer ponchos over rain coats.
A trick I used with ponchos is to have extra long shoe laces that...
I prefer a light rain coat to wear while out and about after I am finished walking for the day. But while walking on the Camino I am a fan of a good poncho to keep myself (and my pack) dry from the knees up.
I have never seen such a gadget but they look interesting. Personally I would stick to your cheap sunglasses that you don't have to worry about misplacing or charging.
Living near the Rockies we have crampons for walking in the forest and smaller spike ones for walks from the house. Today we walked from the house and it was extremely icy with the recent temperatures changes.
When we walk from the house we never take poles. We will be leaving from Burgos at...
As with everything, there isn't a one-size-fits-all usage for hiking poles.
The first time over the Pyrenees I just picked up a stick when I needed one and that was mostly for balance while navigating mud. The second time I had poles but had the straps around my wrist when I hit an uneven...
Both Caminos I took a very old, thread bare, cotton bath towel. It was never one of those thick plush towels but was always soft and dried well. Because of its size it takes a little extra room in my pack but is well worth it.
After my showers I would put my handwashed clothing items in the...
I didn't bring a rain jacket last time, just a wind breaker, but this time I am bringing a very light weight rain jacket for wearing around towns when I am not walking so I don't have to wander around in my poncho.
I also bring 3 pairs of socks and 3 underwear in case the pair I washed doesn't...
I was on the Caminoteca facebook page last night and there was a photo of a pilgrim who had fashioned her own "headpack".

The one thing I wish I had brought was a light weight rain jacket.
We had quite a bit of rain and I loved my sea to summit poncho and will be bringing it again. What I hadn't planned was a jacket for wearing at night and I only brought a very light weight windbreaker that did nothing to keep...
I also found the same issue with Keen being too tight for my instep and I couldn't even get my foot in the shoe. It is apparently their newer models that have this issue. Their other models I find a bit too wide for me especially in the heel and don't have any arch support. My merrells are...
I carried a 20 oz (almost 600 ml) Brita water bottle that has a built in filter. I know this isn't necessary but I felt better having the filter. I was walking with my daughter (who just reused a disposable water bottle that she bought in St Jean) so we had the convenience of asking each other...
